Do U plan to study aboard after secondary? any preference in U in  any country?

GSIS is a good choice.  Shouldn't let the "German" element deter you.  From what I have heard,  German is not a requirement after a certain year.  You may want to check and find out.  A neighbor's son got 拔尖 at Year 12 and is admitted to HKU 醫學院.  Apparently, 4 of his classmates also got the same offer, so I imagine GSIS has good standards.  Another one which you could give a shot is 李寶樁 (or 李寶春?).  very good school with international mix of students, but tough to get in as well.  Good luck!

Heard kellet school is opening a secondary, but I didn't follow up.  You may also want to find out.

If you ever plan on studying aboard, which normally is the purpose of studying in an international school...I think form 3 is about time.
And if you only plan to go later, in university years....check the websites of those universities you would like to go, study what their admissions requirement are, and aim for the international schools that allows you to meet those requirements.

Jaypang_jocelyn,

If you don't mind me saying, you gave me the impression that you would like to leave DGS for other IS because you find DGS too demanding and competitive. If that's the case, you may be in for a nasty surprise as all the top IS are every bit as demanding and competitive as DGS especially if you would like to be in the top group or elite class.  There is really no easy way out of this problem.  If I were you, I would single out those IS that I like and then apply to them all.  Wait and see what offers you've got and take it from there.  I wouldn't worry about learning German or whatever.  Wait until you receive their offers first before you start worrying.  If you get no offer, what's the point of worrying?  If you get plenty of offers, it probably means you are one of the best students around, in which case you should be able to handle all school works, be it German or otherwise. In any event, no school would be stupid enough to put you in the top group knowing fully well that you are a newcomer.

I think you look too high on your school!!  DGS' standard is the highest in HK???
I believe apart from Chinese, many IS' standards are very high in many subjects... my kid has some classmates switched from DGS and they are not really performing well in the IS...

The entrance assessments of CIS are not particularly made hard for the DGS girls... all applicants are doing the same assessment.  Don't have a false expectation that IS are easy... particularly now almost all IS are running IBD... it is a tough curriculum, at least harder than the new HK Secondary Diploma.

I suggest you stay in your very high standard DGS to finish the secondary.

Many CIS students from primary school going up to secondary do not have particularly high standard - which is why it is in the schools's interest to recruit the creme de la creme from outside in order to boost their university entrance record to top overseas schools, hence the difficulty of their tests (I think).  You are right.  I know CIS graduates myself and their Chinese standards are not high (if they started from primary).

WYmom is right though - IB diploma is VERY tough - probably more so than LS curriculum.  If you think going to an IS is an easy way out, you may find yourself in an unpleasant situation if you do get into an IB school.  It just puzzles me how you could have missed all the deadlines.  Whatever hesitation you have, apply first and question later.  I hope you won't do the same for university application.

As heard, around 8 students from DGS had shifted to German Swiss International School last year.

Hi jocelyn, its never too late to learn a foreign language.  I learnt Japanese at uni stage and I speak perfect Japanese and had no problem in attending lectures in Japanese.  As someone mentioned earlier, dont miss your deadlines again.  I know you are still very young and at times it is difficult to really put your foot down.  If you really want to make the move, apply first and then you can still make your final decision later.  There is no easy way out.  Quite a number of people think intl schools students are just hackering around.  In their primary years may be, but when they get to the college, they also work hard.  They work hard in a different way.  Good luck on your decision.

都FORM3、応該可接受点批評&ADVICE的、現在的小朋友都太過温室了、父母只顧催谷学業、情緒智商方面就不看。 Anyway there must  be a reason that she deleted her post.  May be her parents think that she is exposing herself too much in a forum or may be she was only looking for some reassurance but didnt get much here.  So I will leave her in peace.
