My son is attending TL's Music Wonderland. The class will end next month and I'm thinking whether to continue for the next level, ie JMC (2 years) or to find another teacher to actually start playing the piano.
Any advise from the parents? Thanks a lot.

I have the same problem, please advise if I should continue JMC or not, as the course will have to be finished in two years, not a short period of time.
Any mothers could advise us?? I really don't want to waste time. Many thanks!!!

Waste or not depends on what you want. My daughter, 4 yrs' old, is taking JMC at TL. It's the best course that she has joined among others in the past. The course helps students to appreciate music, the rythmn and to feel perfect pitch as it stresses. It doesn't focus on playing the electric piano but appreciate music thru singing & play.
I like the way it educates students. Music is not just touching the keyboard. If you want your child to play a song on the piana within short, it's not your cup of tea . If you want to path a way for your child to learn music in a long run, it's gd. My daughter's sense of rthym is much better after taking the course for 2 months. She enjoys the class and is willing to practise at home (singing with the CD, doing some movements and playing few notes on the electric piano). I will let her continue the course.

Hi cicheung,
Thanks for your comments. The problem is my son doesn't seem to like/enjoy during the class time, that's why I'm a bit hesitate whether to continue or not.
Can I also ask - how much time is spent on playing the keyboard in JMC class? Do we also need to purchase the organ / piano in order to practice at home?
Thanks very much.

my daughter is taking jmc class but she is really enjoy and happy with all classmates during lesson. I think we take about half lesson to play the keyboard and half lesson to learn music key in the class. You should consider whether he prefers learn with others to individual.

Just to share a little bit of my experience. My son joins JMC directly, without attending Music Wonderland. At the very beginning, i think the course is quite good esp for my son as the first experience encountering music course, and my son enjoys it quite much. But after several months, the progress of the class has been slow down...I'm considering if I should let him continue the 2-yr course too...

hello monkeysmama, thanks for sharing. that's exactly the same as my son when he's in music wonderland. he enjoyed for the first 10+ lessons, but then he finds it boring and is only interested in playing the electric organ, which is only for less than 5 mins each class...

My boy's gone through Music Wonderland and Books 1-3 of JMC. A very well-structured and paced course which has done him a lot of good!

In our experience, that's pretty much about pitching the tune and the harmony by solfrege; we often attempt to play back the whole thing on the keyboard by ear, too.
