How would you rank St Paul's Boy, SFA, APS, Ying Wa ?Would you mind sharing your reasons ?

What's your priority?

- academic
- music
- sports
- location
- boy or co-ed
- through-train
- protestant or catholic
- extent of parent involvement

I don't have a list of comparison of these factors among the schools. But I think if you want to know, you may do it yourself and share your view to us.

其實四間都好好，你仔仔都一定係好叻仔先可以考到晒。我會選英華，因為一條龍直升。

For me, I would choose Ying Wa as I prefer through-train school and we live in Kln side Location is one of our main concern and SPB is too far away.......

I would choose St Paul Boys because these schools are similar in level and St Paul Boys would have a big new campus next year.

If you are happy with their feeder schools, YWPD and SPB for sure. If you are willing to spend sufficient time and effort in the next 6 years, studying in APS/SFA will give you a 25% chance to get a place in a better secondary school like DBS, LS, SPCC, QC, Lam Woo & etc. However, the risk is really high.

This is an interesting topic to see if you would like to enter a feeder school or school with high admission rate to good school. In fact, non-feeder schools has to compete with other schools (not sure how many new DSS schools in coming few years and not sure with government policy), it means there is a risk to good secondary school after 6 years.
I think if you think/expect can keep up with conduct and academic result, then non-feeder school is a choice, however, if u are risk-adverse then feeder school may cure the head-ache.

By the way, anyone have info about new setup DSS/private school in the coming few years?

SPCPS for sure(因YW還未肯定收). SPC is the traditional and famous school. 歷史悠久的好學校對小朋友的將來(例如:工作or出國留學)有幫助。當中只有是YW and SPCPS值得想一想。SFA and APS 當然也OK.不過,當年我女兒為了一間有直屬中學的男女津校也放棄了APS, SFA and TT.到現在我也沒有regrets!
SFA,APS可以揷其他好學校,確是真的!不過有幾多是人揷到?最多考頭五名及操行佳才賜個written entrance exams給你。又或者仔仔好似那位音樂神童(沈小朋友)咁勁,就可以由SFA 揷DBSPD!再唔係好似我朋友個女:識人,又可以由SFA插入ST Paul Convent!
想清楚後快放位啦!

I think if considering for SPCPS, it should consider both (academic+conduct) as a whole but not only academic. As you might have better choice if your consideration is academic only.

我朋友讀APS, 佢話早2年的確有一界升中特別好, 校長都講笑咁話, 佢個女果年(之後果年)一定無咁好
結果我朋友個女都無去女拔, 去左另一間TOP TIER學校(唔係超級名校喇)

如果純論名氣和認受性...... 聖保羅和英華可能會高一點, 話哂都係 "Grant School 22" 的成員 (即傳統名校)

但其實 SFA 一點都不遜色, 亦是一間很有質素的學校, 可惜 6 年後要煩多次

我朋友個女在APS讀,成績中游,樂團成員,考了學校/其他家長提議考的證書(普、英、音樂)。上年派到九龍塘某東华三院的英中,自行無間得。讀一年級時,朋友一早知道個女不是讀書料子及太辛苦(她住Ma On Shan,宣小返7:45),所以讀完一年級後想揷回沙田培基和呂明才,申請多年but failed.這朋友也有一細仔,上年考到YW和APS,弟弟沒有跟家姐,現是一年級YW仔。

自己小朋友考到好學校係開心事來的. 有咁多好選擇亦係好煩惱的事. 相信樓主整理好思緒後, 會好快放返D位出來俾其他等待緊的家長的.
