Dear parent,

Any know when RC would release the result. My daughter will have her interview on Early Jan.

They will try to inform parents before CNY, but because CNY is very early this year, they are saying the first week of february at the very latest

And FYI... according to the ESF schools, if your child is having first round interviews at ESF / PIS schools, they would try to give the offers at around the same time and a deposit deadline at around the same time (usually 2nd or 3rd week of February), so parents don't have to pay duplicate deposit to secure a place and the schools can move on with the next round of interviews and offer places to children on waiting list.

Just want to know does your child is holding foreign passport? I was heard some children who hold HK passport doesn't get the 1st round interview.

That's not true for RC because they don't have the Cat. system. In fact, I know quite a few non-ESF kindy, no sibling, typical local Chinese receiving interview invitation.

RC doesn't go by Cat like ESF primary.
They would have to admit at least 50% children whose at least 1 parent has permanent HKID

Cat refers to Catagory, under the esf system, Cat. 1 applicants are children who speak English as a first or alternative language but do not speak Cantonese and/or read and write Chinese characters; Cat. 2 applicants are children who can access the local system but who also meet ESF's entrance requirements (ie: applicants who know/speak Chinese/Cantonese).
RC refers to Renaissance College which is one of the private independent school of esf.

so how did it go? We went there on the 6th, thought it was a bit chaotic, the only good thing was there were all ESF children

So Sorry for my late late reply. Actually my elder son is studying in RC now. That's why my daughter got the interview offer in 1st round. We are holding NZ passport but i just put my HKID in the form as RCHK take 70% HK residence. Not alike ESF that i need to "pretend" i am from somewhere else and speak no Chinese.

Esf only look at the language ability. Children has to be English speaking children. Nothing to do with passport. A 100% local family can still be English speaking.
