Anyone can suggest a good back up or path?
My son now in Woodland Saikung Playgroup & will soon move to Stepping stones.
I have applied Abacus Kinder for him, if they dont accept him, can stay in Woodland for rest of Kinder.
However, what i worried is if he even get in ABacus, I doubt if he have any chance for CWBS.
Therefore, I am thinking below:
Option 1: Apply other IS with both kinder & primary (which might be too late now)
Option 2: Stay in Woodland and apply other IS for primary. This is more feasible and I am starting to think of some options, please give me suggestions and whether they are difficult to get in, when should i apply etc
- NIS (Norwegian)
- FIS (French International)
- HK Academy (will move to sai kung 2013)
- Adventist Academy (but is a local scheme)
- German Swiss
I know little about others, please help!
btw, I duno if my kid is consider as Cat 1 as he is Canadian and we only spoke with him in English. No siblings in ESF system.

OK... shed you some light... My son is in ESF Abacus K2 right now, Cat 1, with kindergarten and alumni priority. We are not in the CWBS catchment area. We are lucky enough to have P1 interviews at Beacon Hill (we live in Kowloon Tong), RC and DC. And... I have applied to 4 other schools as back-up.
If you get into Abacus, go... but it is very unlikely that you will get into CWBS during the first round. However, make sure you apply to RC and DC because you have interview priority there. In the meantime, apply to other schools as back-up. Even if you pass interviews at GSIS, FIS, HKIS and CDNIS.. chances are that you would have to remain on the waiting list until a space come up. If they offer you a place, congrats, move to the new school so you don't have to worry any further. It is very frustrating to say the least. ESF kindy only gives you a priority in your category for an interview, not even guaranteeing you to have an interview!
Any time with ESF... give yourself a million back-ups. Even when I applied to Abacus 2 years ago, I had applied to KBCK, Woodland Caine & Saikung as well as Anfield. My absolute back-up plan was TT KT then because my son was already there.
In addition, did you read the editorial in SCMP on November 21? The waiting list is super long for ANY IS.

thanks for your info. I wonder why the IS waiting list is so long?
as per your suggestion, i will apply to all the said IS as back up for primary, will stay in woodland SK for k1 till primary if cant get in abacus.
how about FIS? how difficult to get in?

Any IS is difficult to get in. If you are french, it's easy to get into FIS. If you are German, it's easy to get into GSIS.
Both schools charge you a high fee to apply and a yearly fee to stay on the waiting list till a spot is available.

Agree that any IS is not easy, chances are slim as well, in the case that even more difficult for getting a place in year 1 for some good IS. Some IS has their own kinder, that makes chance so keen for esf kinder...
