可靠消息, 我幾個老外family, 參加了ESF 學校的講座，講座公佈單是老師子女+sibling+ESF 幼稚園CAT1學生，已超額，那剩如的老外但非ESF幼稚園學生有70多, 還有30多是CAT 2 。那70多加30多連interview 的機會也沒有，我的老外family, 還有許多老外在講座時立刻起哄，但學校只說無奈，我老外friend 好慘，因他們也不是很有錢去讀其它貴的國際學校，又不能讀本地學校。

Yes would like to know if they provide all esf primary application details? Or all schools are so popular that no chance for esf cat2?

現實就係現實, 無人會唔比你申請Y1, 但esf cat2機會有多大, 應該心中有數, 係唔信係要試無話可說, 到k2時入唔到又要撲本地k3 小朋友又要重新適應

我當然知道有其他choice, 而失落既ESF Cat.2家長都可以搵其他IS, 可能某些ESF Cat. 2家長唔介意貴$1,000, $2,000呢! 所以我先唔明白點解之前位人兄主觀地話K2考唔到就要考本地K3.

CWB and KJS are really very difficult to get in. Many people in Cat 2 ESF kindergarten couldn't even get a chance for interview last year.

許多IS, 其實唔抵讀，門口全是local 家長，學生全部香港人。這些香港人的International School, 我寧願讀local school. 坦白講，到小學許多老外都回老家，剩番的老外多數只讀某幾間IS (ESF佔大部份), IS 本可接觸不同文化，但..........

我認識的老外，都說kinder 在香港讀，冇問題，但都好想仔女回老家讀小學，就以我為例，呀B 的kinder 全班只有我呀B是Local Hong Kong. 我與那些老外家長接觸，都覺得世界好大，人地成長環境跟香港不一樣, 有時，我覺得在這kinder, 香港人變成了交換生。

坦白講，今時今日o既ESF都系差唔多，唔同10年或20年前，絕大部份系鬼，今時今日o既ESF都系人多過鬼，可能有某一兩間會多d鬼，我都希望可以搵到間有平又多鬼學術成績又好的IS

多香港人旳IS唔抵讀？全部外國人的IS抵讀d?? 呢個係咩道理！？
如果要同外地家長溝通先覺得世界好大，只係因為一直都是在井底觀天。就算係地道的香港人，都可以係來自唔同的階層，個「世界」一樣可以好大，只係在於個人觀點。

很多Local家長的IS就唔抵讀??那麼很多老外的就很抵讀??

我相信大部份選擇IS的家長並不是純粹因為想要孩子多接觸老外而選擇IS。

如果兩間IS everything being equal except 一間多鬼，一間多人，我會鐘意多鬼果間，因為真系本可以接觸多d不同文化，本地文化我一家已經絕對有大量機會接觸。

當然呢到有好多人可以好輕鬆咁講 k2考唔到esf Y1 未去考其他IS, 因為你們未去到最後呢步比人拒絕而入唔到的感覺, 他們的期望, 計畫一掃而空, 就算有兄姊在校就讀, 都依然被拒門外. 到這個時候的你, 我看你未必咁輕鬆放下這個打擊.
若家長目標真係以esf 小學為目的, cat2家長們真是要三思. 要記住, 未來呢幾年你們競爭越來越烈, 不要完全參考以往bk家長的經驗. 因為你們情況越來越不樂觀.

唔出奇, 我知道有老外係SWCK讀,一心諗住入esf, 結果都冇位比佢, 佢只申請一間, 攪到lare 哂 hare. 呢件係舊年嘅事, 係港島區.

多鬼嘅學校學生turnover會大d, 咁同學仔會冇咁穩定, 而且紀律同中國人諗會有出入多d. 最緊要係, 即使讀is又點? 一般情況下, 中國人小朋友嘅朋友都係返中國人或亞洲人為主. 你話睇下文化係會, 不過就唔好諗住大家會做best buddies.

Same situation in Starters School last year, many Cat 1 applicants cannot get into ESF primary. Note that their catchment is also in Island side.

你呢點我完全同意。
你個人對esf primary不感興趣我沒有異議；問題是遊戲規則是Cat. 2 applicants機會越來越少，而讀esf kindergarten差不多是Cat. 2 non-silbling, non-staff, non-old boys/gals (我稱之為三無人士)入讀esf primary唯一希望；那對有興趣選擇入讀esf primary而入讀esf kindergarten的家長來說，有錯嗎?
當然，在沒有保證之情況下，個別家長只參考歷史數據而不安排任何contingency plan，後果當然要自己承受。

RCHK does not use the category system as ESF primary (pls. visit their website for details). In fact, ESF kindergarten applicants (eligible to those starting from K1) do have the INTERVIEW priority (note: interview only).

rchk preferred to choose "smart chinese students" (in the previous years) and please equip your kid if your target is this school.

我嘅小朋友去年係讀ESF kinder, 但係三無人仕最後入到小學。若果冇讀ESF kinder三無人仕一定冇機會interview。舊年真係有部份cat2冇得interview。我可以講我小朋友嘅全班同學只有一個入唔到ESF 小學或esf私校，佢最後入到其他IS。以前ESF kinder幾乎所有都入到小學。但由2010開始越來越難。

入到個d咪話易入，入唔到個d咪話難入囉!
人人期望唔同，有唔少人當RCHK係2nd Choice，亦有好多人放棄所有offer去讀RCHK...

其實後備計劃任何時候都應該要有。極大部分人都有申請ESF 小學和 ESF私校RC或 DC。想入ESF小學應該讀英基幼稚園尤其是"三無人仕＂。

我沒有當RC為後備計劃因為RC都是心儀選擇。當時我申請其他IS為後備。

well i think it well applies to RC, but definitely not to esf primary as the priority system is about cat 1/cat 2.
when i was told i won't be giving chance for an interview for my kid who is now in TY K2 with sibling at the primary school, i questioned the principal that will all 100% cat 1 be necessary suceeded in the interview, he said even though they fail, there are still many cat 1 in the queue. i hesitate how come there are so many cat 1 and how they make the definition.

Lots of Euroasian, Indian, Korean and Japaense kids are all categorized as Cat 1. Look at KJS's mix and you can see how easily those 150 spots in Y1 can be taken up by Cat 1 kids, including the ones who don't go to ESF Kindy.

Em...I'd better elaborate a little bit more.
1) good communication skill & proficiency in speaking English
2) knowledgeable
3) well behavior
RCHK should maintain 70% of HK resident and since the applicants are far more than the existing places, they would choose the suitable students.
And the interview time was extended from 30 mins to 1 hour since last year.

My son goes to ESF Abacus. Let's put it this way, we are warned that if you are Cat 2, there's no space for you in CWBS. But literally, all children at ESF abacus should be Cat 1, except for maybe 1 or 2 odd Cat 2 that got in with sibling priorities. Even so, there are 90 Abacus K2 children and with Cat 1 children with sibling already at CWBS, the chances are that CWBS cannot absorb all Cat 1 children from Abacus. So... in short, no chance for outsiders even if you are Cat 1 for CWBS catchment area.

With that said... there are several children, including my son, who are either not belonging to the CWBS catchment area or leaving at the end of the school year.
