In past, we would choose the faculty according to the performance of the subjects. But nowadays, due to 334, seems we should do it the other way round, i.e. first think about our targeted faculties, then study the related subjects hard.... due to the selection of subjects when F3 to F4

Is my sense wrong?

I don't quite understand the rationale of HK education department .... It seems just makes the U students to be more 精英化 ... what other advantages there are?

Is it too early for us to think about the targeted future for our kids? It becomes another burden to us, parents in HK .....

You general observations are correct.

The worst part is most U's in HK will go for school based admission. Even you apply Global Bus and accepted, after year one (for HKUST even at Year 2) if our kids internal exam result are not good enough, only select low priority BBA programs.

We need to be careful.

Under 334 system, all students will study 4 years in universities, so now universities only allow students to choose the school in the first year - social, business, science, medicine, law etc. rather than choosing the specific program... students can study the target program (e.g. Global business, accounting, marketing etc.) only by year 2 in unversities based on the academic results in year 1.  This is quite different from the old way before the 334 system.

This is actually following the way in US/Canada.
