請問曾經in 過K1的家長，可否分享一下大概的考試內容，十分感謝

1. Free time playing in the indoor playground ~ remember to take off the shoes before entering the mat.

2. Group Story telling in English ~ 4-5 kids in a room listening story by NET and will do some animal matching by kids afterall.

3. Individual interview in Cantonese ~ simple puzzle with different shapes and color, teacher will ask shapes and color, picture and real product matching, etc.

4. Fill in survey by parents ~ around 10 groups (kids + 1 parent) in a room, kid and parent will seat next together with a table in the front, parent needs to fill in the survey and kid can read the book on the table. Teacher/principal will check how parents cope with the kid, and kid needs to pass the survey to principal after done.

It takes around an hour for the whole interview.

Don't overlook the free time in the playground, teacher is watching the kids as well. I noticed a kid wearing shoes when playing the slide and her parents didn't ask her to take off even though she awared of this problem. I saw a teacher watching the whole scene and go to get the writing board and write down something immediately.

I think I will give up the interview this coming Fri, though LH is just 5 mins walk from home. It's because there might not be many places for non-PN kids to be admitted to K1.

There are four PN classes this year but there will only be three K1 classes next year. So the competition for outsiders must be very keen.

You will never know the result if you are not trying. I thought the same as you last year, not much chance as too limited seats. My home is almost an hour to school and my son was pretty sick on the interview day (didn't go to school for 1 week). But he performed very well during the interview and finally he got a seat in the first round.

If you think the school is good, don't miss the chance or give up easily.

Does every kid need to response in the group English session ? Cos my boy can't understand Eng. I m afraid he will have no response.

coeychung0406 - the survey is just an usual one, who take care of the kid, how much time you spend with him/her, what will you play, what kind of food he/she like and your expectation on the kid and parents etc. For the seat, principal said HL branch received over 1K application forms and accepted around 30 new comers only. (coz there is only 3 K1 class this year, not sure how many K1 class for coming year.)

djdjdjdj - 1 parent is allow to accompany with the kid for the story telling session.

katie0208 - recall my memory last year, the story is about animal, so match the animal at the end. The kid doesn't need to answer the question.

The main point is not your answers on the survey, but what is the behavior of your kid when you are doing the survey. There are teachers carrying pen and paper around the room.

i think this is the main reason for the survey session. They would like to see how parents cope with the kids when they are busy. Some tips for you, bring something he/she likes which can make him/her concentrate.

(1) 點解仲要填問卷, 我交表時, 巳填過一次, 是否差不多既問題? 係咪抄番都可以喇.
(2) 在此時, 小朋友是否可以周圍玩? 定還是小朋友坐在家長身邊? 唔明學校要點喎!

Sorry, I forgot whether I had filled in any survey when submitting the form.

As what I said, they main point is not the content of the survey, it is a test for parents how he/she takes care of your kid during the time you are filling in the form.  Also, teachers are watching all kids in the room to see what they are doing, whether they are patient or naughty etc.  Some kids may cry for leaving or disturbing you or others.  I think school is looking for self-discipline kid. (maybe I am wrong)

In my case last year, I brought a book which is new for my son and he was so excited and curious, so he can concentrated on the book and didn't disturb me a lot.  But, the kid in front of us, keep disturbing us and playing the books on our desk.  I asked my son, "how about watch the new book with the kid"?  My son said, it is ok and I asked the kid to move the chair next to my son.  Then they started reading the new book together without any dispute.

So, I think it maybe the main reason my son was accepted.  That's why I always emphasize school may not be looking for kids who can only answer all the questions, but also the "family education" towards the kid.

coeychung0406 - I cannot reply this question on behalf of the school, but I did let my son reading a book which is not belongs to school property during interview last year.

littleape - I'm not sure whether it is ok or not, but I can see a parent next to me was doing such thing. However, I have no idea whether her kid is accepted or not.

My kid was sick with doctor certificate and cannot join the interview but school just say "NO"
