My kid in PN now. Can parents please share if kids start learning phonics in K1? Which kind of phonics is the school using?

SC is using their own phonics system, not letterland.

they do not have phonics books per se, but they do have some sort of "flash card".

They would teach you the sounds of the letters, and in K2 /k 3 they would ask you to blend the letters to sound out the word.
