半日同全日都真係好難取捨,半日平D,但全日又會學得多D嘢.幼稚園就咁煩,幾時煩到個女大呀.

Gelaton,請問聖若望嘅程度係點利害呀? 如果讀完幼稚園但想報其他小學會唔會好難入呀? 請指教.

My kid is studying in SJC as K3 student. Their acadamic level may says "above average". But it doesnt really means that is the critical conderation. Currently we are very busy about the interview for P1. I have found the most important element for primary interview is the performance of the kid. Portfolio will be 2nd element. Kindergarten will be 3rd element. (Of cos the report with good grades)

Don't know about St. Nicholas, so no comment about this school

Hi pwhi,

想當年我父母希望我可以起英文學校讀書所以將我送到聖若望, 完成KG直上小學, 當時聖若望都係好low profile但就比較新潮, 記憶中佢地比較早開辦全日制小學而引發家長抗議見晒報, 不知過了多少個年頭, 全港小學亦一律改為全日制, 有人覺得聖若望商業化, 我卻欣賞佢地夠目光前衛遠大!
我當時細細個已經同黑色(indian)白色(australian/british)同學仔一同學習, 亦有net老師分別教eng & maths, 上到小學嘅geography & general science 更加有中一程度!我地升中有同學派到喇沙, 但無讀因男拔收咗!亦有入到其他口碑幾好嘅學校如協恩, 德雅, 德蘭, 當時還未回歸, 我地有好多同學仔都去外留學或升上當時嘅美國加洲國際學校 (即而家嘅美國國際學校)!
而我自己去咗德蘭,德蘭係一間校風純樸,老師有教學之心嘅好學校, 唯我當時適應唔到個language environment, 起SJC時, 我地除咗中文用中文上堂, 其他全部english; 但去到德蘭就剛剛vice versa, 除咗english lesson係eng就全中文, although課本係英文. 而且所有eng story books & general science都起小學時讀過晒, 我當時form1連續3個學期都考到全班第1 &全級3名內. 於是我同媽咪要求試下轉校! St rose, 聖家, 協恩&德望都收, 見到張書單發現連form2嘅story books that to be used at st rose, 聖家&協恩有大部份已經起sjc讀過, 所以我地最終選擇德望! 當時德望都有為所有插班生安排eng summer class去standardise所有學生嘅eng standard而我係唔需要架, 我家係小康之家, 家無請外傭, 日常生活全中文架!可以想像sjc train到學生個eng level係好好!
當然啦, 小朋友自己都要努力, 我當時都鍾意睇英文書, 查字典, 所以都有好大幫助, 而係最緊要小朋友有一個啟發性嘅language environment令佢有興趣學另一種語言!
以上都係我個人感覺及經歷, 純粹個人分享比大家有個參考吧! 而且都係陳年往事, 當年嘅聖若望跟現在的一定有分別, 但我相信佢布一定實力和優勢, 如果唔係點可以咁LOW PROFILE斬有本事收人咁貴, 只係值唔值就見仁見智啦!

Hi Chewy, thanks for your information. May I know what kind of primary school the graduates usually go to? Does the school provide any assistance or information on choosing the school besides their own primary school?

I have checked the tuition fee, mis. fee and meal fee already. Is there any other fee I need to pay like birthday party fee, book fee, outing fee, etc?

How many homework per day or per week in general?

How long do the English lesson and Mandarin lesson have for every day/week?

Except Chinese and Mandarin lessons, do other lessons use English to teach?

Sorry for lots of questions and thank you in advance for sharing.

Hi Gelaton, thank you for your information too. I know the school had a big change last year. Don't know how the school runs right now. I also wish my girl can build a good language foundation like you and at the same time enjoy going to school.
