My little one is going to hv an interview by the end of this month, any parents can share their experience? much thanks!

The interview will be conducted in english and it will take less than 45 minutes.

She will listen to story and draw some pictures.

parents will wait out the school for about 40 minutes.

my son was given offer and we paid the deposit.

but we didn't go finally!

one of the reason was that there is no school bus route to take my son from Kowloon to Tai PO.

Are u saying parents will not accompany with the kid when the interview is conducted? ( just wait outside for 45 minutes)....did the teacher ask u some questions?

btw, when can u get the result after the interview?

no question was asked for us.

we got the result within two weeks

and we paid the deposit for about hk11000
(5000 - levy+ one month school fee)

This is one of my target school for my girl P.1. but seems that not many threads about this school.

I didn't know too many about this school because I almost gave up my k3 offer due to no school bus service

I just knew that NIS's headmaster John Luk left the school and they r looking for a new headmaster

This school is running IPC and this is not popular curriculum in HK.

Students are not required to wear uniforms and they are quite free in the classrooms

I hope your child will get a chance to study there.

are yr kids studying in this school? What is yr comment about this school? Do you think it is difficult to get an offer for K1 if i am not living in N.T ( but i will move in TaiPo if my kid got an offer)

They just let the kids to play in the classroom & the teachers would play & talk with the kids...the principal is very nice and she stated clearly to all the parents that just let the kids to play happily there, don't make them stessful & she did not expect "intelligent" answer...i think they are looking for "real" kids, not "smart" kids as the famous local school is looking for....

how about if my girl doesn't good in English?
Will they also consider?
Since she is studing in a local school N now
she's getting less than less to speak English....
But I think she can understand

Clairecarmen, are you going to take the offer... My younger son also got K1 am offer... The result of my elder son (k3) not yet released... i m still thinking whether i should take the offer... the teachers are very caring, but we cannot expect they have high academic result. And they dont have secondary school...

really want to have comment from existing NIS parents!

i will take the offer since it is one of my favourite school ( the other one is HLY)

My daughter is a sensitive girl ( a typical Pisces!) ... a small school & caring teachers is just what she needs, i believe...
regarding the academic level, as long as it is not below average, it's okay for me, i just want her to enjoy her school life! May be i hv a miserable school life in a famous primary school that make me unhappy for 6 years!

it is good that you know what your girl needs...

i know few parents whose kids are studying in famous local primary. She told me some of her daughter classmates go to 橾卷班 on Sat for 7 hours (only p1 student)... i think it's crazy...

I did ask this question on the day of interview... The primary assessor will come to kindergarten to have a look of the students, but Lisa said 99% will go to NIS Primary.. so i dont think it is a issue if your target is NIS primary!

Really want to have some comment from exisiting NIS parents about this school!

Hi, my child attended the K3 interview this year, the format is very fair and comfortable. My child only went there to have a 2 hour class with their existing classmates, then parents go back to pick her up. My child said it was fun and refused to leave after the interview. Hence we stayed to play in the playground for 1 more hour. Hope it helps!

oh..i still do not know the result for my elder son... may be they don't take him... My son was not willing to go to the classroom, the teacher played with him outside the classroom for 0.5 hours...my son went to the classroom finally.. but he was not willing to go in again after the break!

are you going to take the offer??

I like the NIS learning atmosphere, less pressure and teachers are nice and caring. But they dont have Secondary school.... and i m worried about their academic level.

I have also applied ESF, RC and ICS. I know the chance of getting into these school is slim. but i will try.

I will pay the deposit first.

how about you?? IS NIS your top target??

I also love the homy school and small class set up of NIS. Yet, it is also not my top of the list due to the lack of secondary section.

At least, we have a school we like on hand. Good luck to the school search!

my girl is in the K1 Pm class this year. Both me and my husband like the school. Since it is not a big school, parents involvement are very important here. We (parents) konw every other kids and the teachers can even remember the parents names. If you want, you can always join the class and I have once sit in the class for all three hours and I also read books for other kids. I would say this is a good school but if you are targeting for locol education, NIS might not be your choice.

Great to hear that...I am wondering if we parents should talk with each other in English in school ( & after class)... i think we should do that because NIS is an international school, on the other hand it seems a bit odd to speak in English with each other ( suppose no teachers were here) if both parents' 1st language are Cantonese...

My girl will have K3 interview in mid Jan next year, as current parent, would you please share some more about NIS?
I think it's a very loving, caring, homey school, right?
How is it's primary school's academic standard? I don't expect very high standard, but hopefully average standard?
How is it's secondary section proceed?

It's amazing that your kids can go into the interview room themselves without yours accompany. Could you share with me how can you train your kids to be independant and feel at ease with the interviewer?

U mean when the pm class begins? The am class finishes around 11:45-12 noon.. I think pm class starts ar around 12:45-1:00. U may call the admin, they are nice and helpful

I just read the letter again & it says PM class schedule is from 12:00noon to 3:00pm...
