Thanks for information got in this forum! My daughter took the SIS p4 entrance exam on October 6th and received acceptance letter two days ago. Very happy! And we will join it next Feburary (Start from term 3).

I also like to know more about SIS and hope the current SIS parents can give some help:

1. My daughter's english is not good enough and the teacher asked us to hire private tutor to improve her English. Do you know where can we have the good tutor? Is it offered by school or outside?

2. The website mentioned the class schedule is from 8:20-3pm. So is there any after-school activities kids can take in the school? And also, since both of the parents are working, hiring a nanny is the only option to pick up child? Is there any after-school caring center can help us to pickup child and stay there till 6-7pm?

3. We'd like to move to a place close to SIS. Any place to recommend? Is 海怡半岛 a good choice?

Thanks very much for your kindly help.

Thanks for information got in this forum! My daughter took the SIS p4 entrance exam on October 6th and received acceptance letter two days ago. Very happy! And we will join it next Feburary (Start from term 3). Congratulations! My son is also studying at P4. What class is your daughter going?

1. My daughter's english is not good enough and the teacher asked us to hire private tutor to improve her English. Do you know where can we have the good tutor? Is it offered by school or outside? Good tutor is not easy to find. You may send her to some English center first before finding a good private tutor.

And also, since both of the parents are working, hiring a nanny is the only option to pick up child? Is there any after-school caring center can help us to pickup child and stay there till 6-7pm? No after-school caring, just after-school activities only. Probably you have to hire a F/T or P/T maid.

3. We'd like to move to a place close to SIS. Any place to recommend? Is 海怡半岛 a good choice? Most of us are living at the south side of HK. South Horizon may be one of the best choice. How about Bel Air in Cyberport?

Please email me at [email protected] if you need any further information.

nlytyao: can you share why you would choose SIS and which school your daughter is now?

yswong: Thanks very much for your kindly reply. I just sent an email to you for more questions.

We don't know which class our daughter will be placed into as the acceptance letter only mentioned there's a place in P4 will be offered to her.

do123alex: We are not in HongKong now. We are in Beijing, mainland China. Since we don’t understand Cantonese and never use traditional Chinese, it might be quite difficult for her to study in a local primary school. (I heard most of the local primary school use traditional Chinese) And also, the pressure to get into a good secondary school seems very high. IS might be a good choice for us and SIS is one of the IS schools that has high Chinese standard and uses simplified Chinese as teaching media. The academic results of SIS seems very good too.

Hi Yswong

How is the homework and mini-quiz like? I heard from a P4 student it takes around 3 hours a day, is it a common case?

And, I suppose P1 to P3 has less workload than P4, what was your experience on that?

Thanks

How is the homework and mini-quiz like? My son has 1 to 2 pieces of homework daily (Chinese homework is a must), Chinese and English dictation once a week, mini-quiz once a month, practical tests before semester assessment test, 2 exams in a year etc.....

Depending on students' habit, my son usually finished the homework less than 1 hour during weekdays if he likes to do, maybe around 2-3 hours at weekend (Chinese reading and book reports will take more time).

And, I suppose P1 to P3 has less workload than P4, what was your experience on that?  Right,
P4 workload is more heavier than before.
