好不同學校,

CKY 重閱讀同英普, 中學最終行IB, 學費貴好多, 近年多左人選, 要入都不會太易.

LMC 就好新, 機會我估大些因相對會少人選, 只是我不會選它. 不太清楚理念

I agree that they are totally different. Do you like IB??

If you just consider which one would be easier.. maybe LMC?

This year LMC received 910 applications (by counting the interview time slots). There are 140 seats. Assuming that 15-20% may end up turn down the offers. The chance is round 1/5-6.

正如以上既家長所講, 兩所學校係好唔同, CKY係傾向行IB課程, 而LMC就唔係。不過, LMC都係一所全英普小學。

個人認為不是單憑幾多人考,入讀機會率幾高低而去選擇一間學校, 最重要係是否適合你既小朋友。去年, 我放棄了一間好多家長都話好既津校, 而選擇入了LMC, 因為我覺得自己小朋友既性格真係唔啱津校既教學模式, 事實證明我冇揀錯, 因為阿仔超鍾意LMC, 日日返學都好開心, 連打8號風球都問我點解唔俾佢返學

actually, i don't know enough about the school to make any comment, but the day that i was submitting the application form, i heard many of their kids were talking in english among themselves while queueing up for the school bus. And I also overheard two teachers (fairly young, one male and one female) talking to their students in the stairway in perfect north amercian accent too..honestly, i was quite impressed.

人地話好無用, 最主要係睇你小朋友的性格係點.

我都好鐘意CKY, 要好鐘意睇書, 好自律去做好自己. 但我好明白阿仔唔岩讀, 我仔仔一定要畫好條路比佢佢知要做D乜.

最了解阿仔的是你, 小朋友會唔會自動自覺去睇書? 同埋都要好好了解下學校呀..

其實你有所不知lo，裡面當然有好多外籍老師，不過都有d老師係外國籍但係中國人面孔，可能自細係外國長大，能講外國口音流利英語。
每班都係兩個班主任，一外籍一本地，英普教學，校網亦唔錯，KL3網。

我兩邊既入學講座都有去，兩間都鍾意，自己失敗，CKY 交表當日千選萬揀，揀了一個撞期日子！由於阿仔一路面試以來表現都未如理想，所以現在只考慮入到機會率而已，再聽聽大家意見都會幫助我決定後日去邊間。

Actually, I am having the same dilemma...cky's time slot is in conflict with LMC...I am still waiting for one school's feedback, if that is good then I will go for CKY, if reject then will aim for LMC...since the chance of getting in is higher....

CKY is like a dream school to us, but pretty expensive, yet quite competitive to get in.

but then i was discussing this with my husband last night, if he's really good, he can always try to switch in or apply again when he is older for secondary, or mid - of primary, or even next year. Don't have to give up or lose hope yet even if we dont' get in this year. It's always easier and less competitive to enter for P.2 or above...at least u are not competiting with a few thousand of kids, there might be just around 20 ppl applying next year or for the years thereafter, isn't it?

what i've heard is that if you plan to enter any famous schools by "cutting in", you child must process outstanding academic or other (music, sports, etc) results. in other words, yes, opportunities are always there, but i'm not quite sure whether the chance would be higher, coz tho u you are not competing with a couple thousands of other 5-6 yr old kids, you will be competing with some very smart (or superboys) for a few available seats.

阿仔in 完十間, 包括名校, 最like 都係 CKY, 我地都覺得好合佢, 尤其識的小朋友都讀得好, 可惜學費係最貴.. 同埋比較遠, 如果課外活動冇校車就會好煩.. 所以真係有機會收都要再三思.. 12年的投資.

missuet: i was referring to LMC in that case.
As for CKY, needless to say, the language ability of their students is way beyond average...!! I have encountered a few that seems very smart, intelligent and carry themselves very well, probably knows even more than I do.

Hi wallpaper, I think I'll most likely go to LMC for 1) it's indeed easier (less than 1,000 applications vs 2,000 for cky, according to the info provided by the net fd here).
2) less finiancial burden compared to cky

forgoing the dream school opp is a painful decision.

how abt you? get any response from smc yet?

i really couldn't decide which to go...and there was no mail yet today, so I called up smc just now, and asked about the interview result... they said they will call me back, i hope they will reply me today...then i will see if i will go to cky or lmc....feeling really desperate, heart pounding.... lucky my blood pressure is normally low...!!!

hey relax.... just a game! even if we flunk all the attempts, it doesn't mean our kids won't have schooling opportunities.

i've learnt to calm myself down so much these days. in fact, earlier this week i got the notice of flunking smc. when i opened the envelop, i felt so disappointed, yet a few minutes later, i went " the hell with it! tmr will be a better day!"
