我仔係升小一開始有睇, 不過睇完20幾本後就轉追A TO Z MYSTERIES.
佢唔查字典,但就估到意思.

阿女及阿仔同是今年6月開始看Magic Tree House系列. 阿女九月升小三, 阿仔(大仔現 6歲8個月)則升小一. 他們也看Merlin Mission. 阿仔亦會看Research Guide. 我相信他們大致明白故事內容, 否則不會一本追一本地看下去, 但是否隻隻字也看得懂則未必了.

My son first saw this series of books in last Christmas and read it by himself when he was 5.
If your child prefers reading with parents, please do so. It's more important to build up their interest and habit in reading than to force them to read alone early.

如果佢地肯查字典，一定會學到多D嘅，不過如果監佢地查，就可能以後唔鍾意睇書，重蝕！
如果有機會用D字，會上心D。可以玩 Scrabble / Bananagram 同鼓勵寫吓故事。阿仔呢個暑假寫緊 a rainbow series of adventure stories，送俾我珍藏！

It doesn't matter when the kid starts it. The more important thing is when the kid has developed a reading habbit. Sometimes a kid starts a series later because he/ she did not like it before. For simple chapter books, my son starts around P.1, but he picked up the first Magic Tree House book in the middle of P. 3. The first one is about the Titantic, and thereafter he has read many other books about the Titantic.
