大家讀同一間學校, 想大家交流下:
1)你們找到校巴/保母車未呀?
2)買左校服未? 我仲未買,好似要去佐敦...
3)是否學費包埋書簿,荼點費...呢? 除了學費有沒有其他費用?
4)知不道知道 K1開始是否已經有興趣班要參加呢?
5)8月30日家長一齊返學,是否父母2人都可以,定係只可一個人呢?

Hi, my daughter will be promoted to Reception Class this Sept.  My experience is:
2) Yes, I bought  the uniform in Jordan, a building beside the famous 澳洲鮮奶茶餐廳 if I remembered correct.
3) Apart from school fees, no other additional fees. very good!
4) They have extra curricular activities for even KG class students but my daughter hasn't enrolled for any last year.
5) Aug 30 is an orientation day for either or both parents.  You can also bring your kid as well.

2位家長可以一齊去係好D, 等父母都知道小朋友上學的情況。
原本沒有其他雜費, 實在太好了, 有D國際學校有好多雜費,如茶點費,活動費,書簿費...等等
希望小朋友喜歡這間學校, 國際學校輕鬆一點,你女女呢? 喜歡這間學校嗎?開心嗎?

I guess 鑽石山 is not too bad. My friend's two kids, living in Tsuen Wan, study in Island School due to school zoning. It can be a tough choice. There is an ESF school about 15mins walk from my home, but I still send my boy to KCIS. It takes about 30 mins by car.

My son goes to KCIS P.1 this Sep. I actually contacted the school bus company Mrs. Shu in June and have reserved a seat for him. We live in Tseung Kwan O and I saw most of the kids got onto the school bus around 7:55 or 8:00am, which is perfectly fine for us.
I had bought the uniforms.
I think both parents can go to the orientation day?!

Depends on which class you are in. Last year KG1's sport class is on Friday while that of KG2 is on Thursday.

The pick up time from Tseung Kwan O is also 7:55am, maybe different buses.

Hi,
Interview分兩部份,一是家長同小朋友一齊圍住外國老師講故事,外國老師會有問題問下有關故事的內容, 睇下每個小朋友D反應,同場也有2個老師幫手睇住記錄小朋友的情況。二是分組有2-3個小朋友對一個老師玩枱上的玩具,問下小朋友color,big/small, shape...等等simple 的問題,接著在旁的另一老師會問家長有關小朋友的事情,一般在家/在玩耍/在學習上的問題,全程當然是英文對話啦 !
希望你有心理準備,給小朋友上playgroup,比小朋友接觸多D人多D事物。

咁係唔係入到既機會唔大呀?
我小朋友會返local n1, weekend返playgroup, 但怕到時答唔到.....

Moreover, I am sure about the Mandarin standard (I know KCIS Chinese is very high). For your info, competition for entry to KCS (Local section) has intensified substantially. Last year, 2,000 applicants compete for 3XX spaces.

I actually has submitted application form for CDNIS for my girl for the school year of 2013.

But after knowing that many artists' children are attending this school (no offence) I have made up my mind not to let my girl study in this school..... It seems that most of the students in this schools come from rich family but we are just normal middle class family, I am afraid my girl will compare herself with her schoolmates and feel unhappy or she will "adopt" the living standard of her schoolmates. I think children will learn/be affected by their peers.

So now my target is KCIS hehehehe

The duration of exposure does not necessarily translate into the level of academic rigour. I am sure that some international schools also provide daily Chinese lessons, but you will be surprised that their standards differ vastly. Another thing is that I heard that the amount of homework in KCIS is one of the highest amongst international schools.

It was a simple interview eg story telling, toys to play and small chat with the parent. Exactly what was mentioned by elsiewky in the earlier discussion. You will get the result the same day or maybe the next day.

Nice to meet you here. We just went through the last minute interview on this Tue and got the PM offered on the same day. I actually put in the application quite late (Aug last year) so I was surprised that we still can get the chance for the interview. ^_^

I am not surprised especially for international schools when parents need to relocate to other countries/regions (including China, Singapore, etc) because of their jobs. Hence, spaces will come up in last minutes or even in the middle of academic year.

In view of its strong emphasis of both English and Chinese, affordable school fees, growing student body and improving track record, KCIS is not a bad choice.

I would like my son to study in KCIS throughout his entire primary school years.

I had a formal and strict interview at the end of Aug. Got an offer on the same day. That was not easy. Interviewer kept asking Q to kid & parents.
I think the school is quite good except school bus service that's always delay.
My girl is in KG1 now. How about yours?

I have to inform the current kinder of my daughter. Just don't know what would be the best way to tell the kinder.

Agreed with you that the problem of the school bus. Even the the admin of KCIS mentioned to me that my girl will definitely be late to school for at least 15min everyday. Hope she won't miss out too much on class.

Me too feel more comfortable of the language environment because I speak and read to her in Mandarin. I felt a bit odd in the orientation of her current school because everything was in Cantonese.

Actually, do you know what is the daily activities of your son in school? I hope I haven't missed out a lots from the orientation.

Mine is in pm session.
She has started since 1 Sep.

Regarding the delay of school bus, it’s really a problem in studying.
Much time is wasted in traffic.
School hour is shortened.
None of school buses arrive on time.
Normally, bus students reach their classrooms at 14:00.
My daughter experiences the worst case because her school bus is always delayed and her bus nanny sends her to classroom on 1/F after all bus students (who belong to local section) enter their classrooms on 1/F and 2/F.
She is required to unnecessarily visit many classrooms and walk up and down the stairs.
She reaches her classroom (after the “campus tour”) around 14:15.
The school bus always goes to the pick-up point late by 30 minutes.
I once saw the bus reached North Point around 14:30.
I do think the school bus section must do something to correct the problem.

Acrana, my son will take the Route H pm school bus from the coming Monday. The school told me he will arrive at the classroom 15 min late., i.e. 1:45 p.m. As u see, is this the real case ?

I also met Mrs Sen, my son's classmistress today when she was teaching the a.m. session. It appears that she is not so cheerful-looking. Anybody knows do the kids enjoy learning with Mrs Sen ?

I saw the first school bus reached the school after 1:45. They spent a lot of time for getting off, lining up, and going up stairs. The 1st batch of bus children entered the classroom around 2pm. These days, bus F arrived our pick-up point around 1:45. But, the scheduled pick-up time is 1:10. Today, other parent who was staying at the school just told me the bus F reached the school at 2:30pm.

Your son will be my daughter’s classmate. Mrs Sen is nice and patient. My daughter enjoys going to school.

Serving local stream or Int'l stream or not, i cant accept if a school bus arrives the school at 2:30p.m. Local stream starts lesson at 1:40 pm. Int'l stream starts lesson at 1:30 pm. The school should check whats wrong with the Route F and find way to solve the problem.

nice to see you here. I think my daughter is in the same class as your daughter and they take the same school bus at the same bus stop.

I totally agree your points. Unnecessary campus visit and over delay of school bus time are really annoying. I have talked to the in-charge of school bus service. He asked me to observe one more week. If the situation is not improved, they might reshuffle the route. Let's wait one more week. If the condition remains the same, we should express our concern to them again and again

My daugther is studying at KCS N class morning section and is taking route H. My experience so far is OK, at least for the first 3 days which I can join the class and see the arrival of school buses. Route H should be the earliest to arrive, usually 15 mins before classes starts.

The school bus drops off a.m. session’s children and picks up p.m. session’s children within the tight lunch break. It serves both local stream and international stream. If you read the timetable carefully, you may notice it is impossible to achieve.

Actually, I’ve decided to monitor the arrival time of Bus F for a short period before raising a complaint. I hope the school can improve the problem soon. The serious delay of bus schedule occurs for p.m. session only. They understood what the problem is.

For the campus visit, I hope it is a short-term disorder. If it is a long-term arrangement, the nanny who brings small kids unnecessarily go up and down the stairs is quite foolish. I’ll talk to the in-charge if it still happens few days later.

May I know the contact method of the in-charge of school bus service?

Agreed to observe till end of this month and if the problem continue, we should raise our concern to the school together. I have no problem to meet with everyone at school and we can talk to the person in charge face to face.

reference no. 百幾 is better than mine . There are about 96 students for the 4 Kindergarten classes. I think you should be able to have interview. Good luck

Sorry to hear about your case. But, what does the letter say? Does it mean that your daughter will be put on a waiting list for interview? I still have not receive any letter from school. Perhaps, I applied late and I am not even on the waiting list.

我大約排8x (個時我打去問)

個時我打去過問, 大約係8x

有申請都係on list waiting interview
我上次問就年尾開始in(上星期答)
不過往年都係1月開始

The staff is very 爽 wor i think (I called in the afternoon)! 佢好快 search 到我個application 就講番個 number 比我知 (佢話響張receipt 度可能我睇漏咗)...咁我咪跟手問埋佢interview D野, she just said "interview 會響一、二月跟priority進行，之前會用電話通知"
Given she is 咁爽, i guess it's possible to change time ge...(just my wild guess)

Hi iamworkingmama, I have also applied to KCIS kg1 for my son for 2013. When did you submit your application? I just sent it it 2 weeks ago and still have not received any confirmation letter or waiting list number. I guess I will be far behind you....I only realized that they have first come first serve order a few weeks ago, sigh!

即係你報左local所以冇左優先priority???
唔係讀左n班就有得優先嗎?

According to the school, priority for interview is ranked as follows:

(1) Sibling
(2) KCS students
(3) Other applicants

Don't worry since there are around 90 students. I guess your kid should have chance to enter the interview stage.

I guess it is quite rare that KCS N class students apply only KCIS but not both. I also apply both KCS and KCIS for my son. Anyway, I think KCIS may consider to create more spaces in view of the high demand. But, I am not sure whether Ching Wah campus still have enough rooms.

Agree! If it's not the good"software" (curriculum, language), the "hardware" (the campus, the location) definately cannot attract that many applicants!

Is your girl 2009 b and will start kg1 in 2012? I just submitted application for my 2010b for 2013 kg1 and I am waiting list# 19x. I did apply for KCS n class though for next year. I guess if my boy doesn't get into KCS 2012N, he pretty much has no chance in getting into KICS 2013 kg1...sigh!

KCIS is getting more and more popular these days...i heard that in the old days no interview is needed at all for admission!

Parents receive weekly newsletter from school every Monday and latest news from class teacher occasionally. Class teachers also uploaded a lot of photos on web. Correspondence between teacher and parent is carried out with handbook that is checked every day. The ways of communication are good enough.
