90% of my students got distinction in their Trinity examination.
As a teacher,
there is simply no better reward than parents looking me in the eye with the utmost sincerity and saying "Thank you, Miss".
I'm simply overjoyed with the results!!!
Now I can take a break~~~

10 of my students went for the GESE Grade 1 Exam and they all achieved distinction.
10 of my students went for the GESE Grade 2 Exam and 9 of them achieved distinction and 1 achieved merit.
5 of my students went for the GESE Grade 3 Exam and 4 of them achieved distinction and 1 achieved merit.
This examiner was a lot better than the other examiners. This examiner played with the students in order to let them relax and he only asked them questions after they were relaxed.
I wish all Trinity Examiners were like that.

I'm not sure if the examiner are a lot better.
My daughter was supposed to have Trinity GESE exam on last sunday afternoon.
We went there 30 mins earlier than the exam time and found no one was at the exam center. All the lights were off and there was no phone # i could call to ask what happen!!!
I waited outside the exam center till 15 mins past my exam time. Still no one there.
I was so angry by this. I expect more from an international organization.
I called the trinity center on the next day and the staff told me that the examiner overlook my daughter's exam time. And there was another boy like me who had waited for hr outside the exam center on sunday.
We were arranged to have exam on the next day but my daughter had been looking forward and expecting to have exam on sunday. I was furious about this center and will not take any of its exam again!!

I'm sorry to hear what happened.
I'm quite shocked to hear that as this has never happened at my center before.
Which center was your daughter supposed to have the exam at?
I think you need to know that the center's staff are different from Trinity's staff. All the centers in HK pay Trinity a license fee in order to be the exam center in HK. However, this doesn't mean that the staff working in a particular center are the Trinity examiners. Every time there is an exam in HK, Trinity examiners specially fly to HK from overseas.
This means that there could be a mix up between the HK center and the Trinity examiner, which is what I believed happened.
My center has been organizing Trinity Exams for 5 years and the examiner is always early.
I hope you would consider having the exam after you have cooled down.

I think it is the Trinity Hong Kong Office in Sheung Wan.
Since you can still take the Trinity Exam without taking any Trinity course, you only need to apply yourself and sent the application to Trinity HK Office.
My son also took the exam this July. The examiner on that day, indeed, is quite cool, no smile on his face, of course no warm up, no expression in his voice.

May I know which centre it is?
Besides, do you know the standard for getting distinction, is it required all "correct" answers in order to get distinction?

Dear stepthemoon,
May I have your advice on the normal age for taking the GESE grade 2 & 3? How about grade 4 & 5? Thanks.

Achieving distinction really depends on a few aspects:
1. Greeting
2. Discipline
3. Knowledge
4. Fluency
This time examiner at my center was a really nice person. We are not lucky every time. =.="

Dear YLMom,
I regret to inform you that I won't be able to give you a specific answer because it truly depends on the English standard of your child.
The students at my center have a decent English background. Therefore, I have listed the information below for your reference:
Age 2.5: Speech Communication Arts
Age 3: Grade 1
Age 3 (almost 4): Speech & Drama
Age 4: Grade 2
Age 4.5: Cambridge (Starters)
Age 5: Grade 3
Primary 4: Grade 4
Primary 5: Grade 5
Grades 4-6 are a lot more difficult than Grades 1-3. From Grade 4 onwards, the fluency in the English language is essential. The candidate must be able to talk with the examiner about all the topics without any pauses. The candidate has to be able to use all the phrases and the grammar and tense must be correct. They also have to prepare a topic on their own and they have to discuss their topic with the examiner.
Once again, I must emphasize that this is just a general guideline.

Hi Stepthemoon
May I know which centre you are teaching?

I regret to inform you that I don't approve of my center's business philosophy.
Therefore, I do not wish to recommend it to any parent.
It is the teachers in the center that aid the students in achieving the results, not the center.

That's Ok, thanks for your sharing.
Besides, do you know on the examination report, in it only indicates pass or fail, the grading will be shown on the certificate which will be 8-10 weeks later.
And I saw it tick "A". Do you know the meaning for "A"? = distinction?

You're correct. A means distinction :)
