I am not familiar with the publishers of the English subjects. May I know the strengths of those publishers compared with US/Cambridge/Oxford publishers? Thanks~~

如果學校本身已經有一套好好的英語教育課程(日日有練習紙/worksheet做)，補充練習只是輔助性質。
想英文好，主要是多閱讀。

Reading of course is important and doing exercise is more exam-oriented. Oxford / Cambridge are good publishers but some parents may want to buy some extra exercises for their kids. I especially visited Popular book store when I was in Singapore last time. I bought some of their readers from singapore publishers. I can't say singapore publishers are better than Hong Kong. I just buy something which I can't find them in Hong Kong.

In the HK book fair last month, I found some reading materials for primary school students. They are written by Singapore people. I asked them whether these are textbooks used in Singapore. They told me they are not textbooks but readers recommended and used by many schools there. While chatting, my son picked up some books (about science, history, animals, etc) to read and then bought one set for himself. I find that those books are quite good and also they are cheap (HK$150/12 books). With a variety of books at such an affordable price in Singapore, this may explain why HK students' English is poorer than those in Singapore. HK government should definitely do something.

講開HK BOOKSTORE 我覺得好鬼mean, 只係習作就任睇, 其他大多數readers都包實, 人地外國even大陸都唔知幾開放, 任你坐幾耐睇都得, 仲有桌,又有sofa都唔知幾咁relax, 難為hk小朋友係page one坐晒係地下咁慘.

我去台灣誠品, D 書都係包晒, 要拆就要係收銀拆, 當場看過, 如果岩就要買, 吾岩就比返佢, 無得好似係LIBRARY 甘借
你有無去過CWB 商務兒主部? 有SOFA 坐, D 書任看...........

To me, it is a chicken and egg question. Many years ago, many books at Page One (Times Square) were not wrapped. However, many of them were damaged and as a result they had to be sold at a very low price. So now most of the books are wrapped there. The lack of reading space in book store is due to high rental cost, thanks to the landlords, the Government, and the mainland people.

咁多人睇實有損耗，做生意都預左要有ＳＡＭＰＬＥ啦，　但如果唔睇過又點可以吸引人買，可能小朋友睇完一本會成套買，　生意反而會做多左，ＨＫ要租平可能要開係樓上。

Those books are published by Pan Asia Publishing at www.panasiabooks.com. I bought Student Times Series.

天后(QC後面)有間精工同天利行都有好多新加坡版教科書同習作賣，平時可以自由翻閱，不過8/9月會賣教科書，唔可以自己攞書睇
