標題: 聖瑪加利大幼稚園vs 蘇淅幼稚園 [打印本頁]

My son is offered pm class from both 蘇淅 and 聖瑪加利大. It is very difficult to decide as KCS has strong language and academic background while the P1 allocation result is very promising in 聖大. Can anymore give some advice?

st margaret's allocation is mostly by government allotment, not that much related to the kg itself!?

I would chose KCS as the kg has a good primary school for backing up.

Understand what you are saying but how can 聖大 get such a good result every year. Is it really because of students living in the same location or a lot of alumni studied in the same school??

是不是跑馬地間聖瑪加利大? 如果係我會選呢間, 我孩子有幾個同學都是呢間出的, 質素幾好, 小一叩天主教小學有戰鬥力 (當然最好就唔好叩門).

Yes, it is the one in Happy Valley. May I ask which primary school your kid is in? The last thing I want to do is "knock on door" as I think only the top 1 or 2 student of the famous kindergarten stand a chance.

Actually, it's really hard to pick in between St. Margaret Church & Lingliang Church. Both are good school, e.g. good reputation & good P1 allocation result.

I understand that Lingliang Church is a super happy/free school e.g. playing time more than learning time. Of course you can says kids are "learn from play" which matched with their education theory. However, I overheard from some mom that they found it very hard for their son to pick up the P1 local school after 3 yrs of super happy/free school life. I just want to pick a school with balance.

True, my husband's cousin studied in 香港靈糧堂 kg and lucky enough to get into St. Paul Church in P1 but have problem adapting to the demanding curriculum because there was no test in the kg but very common in St. Paul Church. That's why I have concern over whether things will be too easy in 聖瑪加利大. Will this school get him well equipped (I know can't compare with KV or SC but don't want to be too easy) when applying all the DSS school ie. Ramondi

唔好意思, 睇唔到是問我, 我通常講完就走.

我囡幾個同學是女仔, 而我亦相信來自女仔的聖大學生扣天主教學校有著數, 原因好大關係就是天主教咁簡單. 當然其中可能某間學校與某間學校熟些, 知道學生質素又會易叩些. 但叩門未必是第一名第二名才可, 因為好多幼稚園根本無成績表!

有媽咪提到一條龍有幾重要, 在大陸加港人子女夾攻下, 升小呢個因素是極其重要, 如蘇浙可給你一個肯定的小一學位安全網, 呢個因素好重要, 所以作決定是要知道幾個問題.

1) 你所住的校網;
2) 自行有幾多分如舊生, 宗教等自己可以查;
3) 蘇幼上蘇小是不是一定得? 如果得可唔可以俾參加政府小一入學機制如統一入學, 這個我不知道, 有些俾有些唔俾, 如果俾蘇浙收你個仔你收唔收貨;
4) 你自己最想兒子入邊間
5) 大仔定細仔

叩門是被迫去做, 唔好覺得嗰間似乎叩門有SO 就去邊間讀, 叩門呢家嘢有好多唔係你可以控制到的因素在內, 以這個為選校主因很危險.

請先找找以上問題的答案, 有了結果, 你自然會想到答案.

Thank you so much for your detail explanation. I do agree that girl seem to have a benefit over 聖大. Unfortunately, mine is a 大仔 which brings concern. I do want to target Wah Yan for P1, that's why 聖大 will be a good choice. However, since I live in net 14, allocation is not easy unless I move to net 12 (still no guarantee).

As far as I know, 蘇幼 is not neccessarily accepted into 蘇小 as they reduce from @11 classess to 4 classes but they will let you paricipate in the lucky draw. I think 蘇小 will see more as a backup to me as competition is so keen this year. Strong language is also an advantage of 蘇淅.

I guess you just can't have everything and it's no easy decision to make. That's why my husband and I keep scratching our head for the best answer.

如果你想入華仁, 你唔去12 網, 冇宗教分或其他分, 只憑蘇浙或聖幼名氣及學校所教實力去叩門而入到華仁, 你姑且當個成功機會接近0...所以你要入華仁, 沒有宗教分, 沒有其他方法, 只能入12網住...

如果蘇浙唔係一條龍, 你問我選邊間, 我會選聖大, 呢個決定好個人, 原因是我喜歡天主教學校及佢學校所在地 (可圈可點)...你自己兩間都去過, 覺得兩間的老師, 環境, 社區, 邊間合你同仔仔心水多啲, 有時呢啲都很重要, 佢要係度過三年, 除了升小, 呢啲會唔會都好重要?

至於幼稚園所教, 如果去到考直資私校同全香港的幼稚園一齊考, 我諗要加大成功機會, 父母都會額外家教, 另加十八般武藝 (父母子女的悲哀)...冇話呢間好以中文好嚸嗰間好似英文好些便會著數些..

仔仔自己喜歡邊間?

Thank you again for your further advice. In fact, my son is a Catholic + 1st child, but without moving to net 12, I think the chance of getting into Wah Yan is also very slim. If moving is an ultimate option, I wonder staying in either 聖大 or 蘇淅 stay similar chance unless "knocking on the door. Will an backup school a more safe option??

My husband definitely likes 聖大 more as he is more familiar with Catholic school but I find 聖大 less spacious and resource than 蘇淅, just wondering if this will be less attractive to an active boy. My boy will only like school which has more cars and toys, he doesn't care about other factors.

I know I may think too much over everything, that's why so hard to make up mind. Thanks again for your patience.

I would choose KCS KG because of their language skills but not their 一條龍. I personally think 蘇小 is so so only (I studied in 蘇小).

If you want 一條龍 in the same district, Methodist would be a better choice (But chance is 80%, not 100% guaranteed).

你的小朋友是天主教徒, 為何不選擇天主教學校?? 我的小朋友是天主教徒, 讀聖大, 囝囝以前去聖堂很不聽話, 完成了k1後, 他會跟住諗經唱歌, 肯做合十動作, 乖乖走到神父面前接受祝福, 我相信學校在信仰上的培育下了不少功夫...

我囝囝愛扭計...不過, 老師都好有愛心及耐性去教導他...

在囡囡考幼稚園時, 我曾經去過蘇浙, 憑個人感覺, 我喜歡聖大多一點...尤其是走過蘇浙那條長斜路再走幾層才到校園室...不得不怪自己平日少運動...hehe....

不過, 我明白蘇浙出名普通話好, 又有小學backup (不介意要比錢的話), 的確令作為家長的安心一點...

我的小朋友沒有讀過蘇浙, 不知大家課程上有何分別...不過, 正如panbaby講, 到要考直資及私校...只靠學校課程是不夠的...

至於你有20分...在首輪是不能百分百入到華仁...不過, 在叩門時讀哪一間幼稚園是不是有幫助真不得而知...

我相信你心裡面都有選擇, 我亦相信兩間學校都是好學校, 各有千秋, 向心儀學校進發吧!!!

My husband wants my son to study in a Catholic school as we believe school with religion background tend to put more focus on the moral education. However, I am so worry about the keen competition on P1 my son has to confront few years later base on today experience especially when we do not live in Wanchai, school allocation is no guarantee, but may end up has to choose private/DSS school

聖大吧教會學校升小學會好些！還有蘇小不是直升，因為有親友想報讀蘇幼而我老死女兒是從蘇幼一直讀到蘇小現在升小五，所以我問老死意見，她同我說幼稚園算是不錯，有國語及外國老師教英文，但蘇小近年就不太好有點亂，因為有一些比較麻煩的家長因為本身利益而影響都其他同學。有一次她女兒班中一位同學的媽媽發瘋的沖進班房裡破口大罵，罵全班學生欺負她小孩要怎樣怎樣！這件是只是冰山一角，還有爭畫時件，她小孩強搶了另一位同學的畫交給老師說是自己畫的這事也鬧得很大，要報警又要鍳証，她常常到學校鬧事，最後她女兒班中最好的一名同學怕了跟那小孩一班受影響而轉到另一班去了，老死因為怕形響女兒所以才沒有轉校。

她還說最好笑是最近有一天快吃午飯時在班外面傳來很大的哭聲，原來另一班的班主任要離開學校，她那一班學生剛知道後，全班廿十多人一起痛哭，哭聲震動整層樓，送飯工人和清潔姐姐也驚惶失措，最初以為是那位老師離開學生不捨得才哭，後來該班的一位朋友告訴她女兒，是因為學校受到同一班的一位同學家長不斷的投訴和壓力而不再跟該老師續約還要在放暑假前才通知離開，因近全同學都不捨得她走，同學的家長也覺得不公而出面向校長求情及申訴，當然最後也是改變不到，因為知情的老師暗示校長年紀大不太管事了，事務是副校長處理，真不知道投訴的家長有何大力量一人可以蓋過全班的家長而影響學校決定。真的比電視劇好看。

如果所有外國小朋友都是am，我覺得太巧合 -- anyway，我都會照讀，希望囡囡enjoy。
