邊有學校真係FULLHOUSE, 一定有人派到官津第一志願唔要直資位, 不過空缺可能好遲先出現, 你見有人出POST叫人快D做決定放返D位出嚟就知啦

話雖如此，但英華的waiting list頗長，照道理應先給學位予在waiting list的考生，然後才到叩門者。

Once an offer from a DSS is accepted, the candidate cannot take part in the lucky draw, as an undertaking needs to be signed to give up all seats obtained or to be obtained through the EDB's allocation systems.

要看是哪一間學校和家長的取向，有些家長可以負擔學費，亦喜歡學校的教學模式和理念，相信是會入讀的。至於像英華達二千多人申請的學校，相信有相當大部份不單把它當後備，而是真正心儀的學校。當然，在waiting list的不一定是這一類型的，但相信有一定比例。

唔奇丫, 我小朋友間直資, 咁多年黎都無試過6月仲有叩門位(WAITLIST都一條, 根本唔再接受申請)
所以英華話無叩門位, 可以理解
事實上, 家長揀左直資, 就要放棄大抽獎, 所以根本無"用直資黎做BACKUP"呢支歌仔唱, 除非小朋友註冊多間直資/私校, 又或者6月又去官津校叩門成功啦

As have been pointed out by thomasha and Charlotte_mom above, once the parents accept the offer from a DSS school, they would be required to sign an undertaking to give up the right of the "lucky draw".

However, if your child is put on the waiting list after the school interview, s/he is still eligible for the "lucky draw".

Ordinarily, mostly DSS are famous, long history and have very good educational quality. They have the secondary schools of themselves. And normally, their primary students can go ahead directly to its secondary school.
Ying Wa is one of these school.
Therefore, it is impossible for the parents who are regular Intelligence Quotient 視直資為後備, 萬一派唔到又叩唔到先會去讀.

Very true.

Technically speaking, you cannot hold any place under EDB's space allocation system once you have accepted an offer from a DSS, so how can you use it as a backup?
