Can anyone share your comment about :
1. Is it good (compared to other ESF Primary Schools) ?

2. Any chance for Cat.2 ?

For this year,my daughter was in cat 2,she has no chance even no interview. You paid for the application fee but no interview.

Not even a chance of interview? keen competition ......thanks for your reply. Well then, may I ask when should I submit the application, as early as possible( as my kid is only 3 this year) ?

1. They have good results, so I guess its not bad
2. Yes, depending which kindy you go to. For my little one's kindy (its not ESF), they all received the interview invitation and most of them got accepted.

PVLAM, which kindy did your child attended?

What mean Cat.2

Cat. 2 means:
Children who can access the local system but who also meet ESF's entrance requirements.
Within each category priority for interview will be given to students who:

are siblings of children already attending an ESF school;
are attending an ESF Educational Services Ltd Kindergarten (for Year One only);
are former students returning from a period overseas;
have a parent who is a full-time employee of ESF;
are the children of former ESF students.

Boxhill is international Kindergarden, is mean Cat.1?

Um...I think it depends on what language(s) does your child speak, if he speaks/knows about Cantonese/Chinese, (even if Cantonese is his 2nd language), then he's already Cat.2, becoz Cat.1 refers to children who speak English as a first or alternative language but do not speak Cantonese and/or read and write Chinese characters.

i wonder if my child only speaks english but not cantonese, will she regard as cat 1? (while we are chinese and speaks cantonese as 1st language but we communicate only in english with her)

Yes, when the kid finished K2 then go to Year 1 in ESF.

My son will be attend in SJS Year 1 in this September. Last Friday, I took my son for a shortly session. He enjoyed very much and happy to show me around in his classroom and introduced his teachers to me.

Share about our background. My son now is studying in YMCA International Kindergarten. He was born in UK on Dec 2006. We stayed in UK since a long time ago and we have UK passport. Mainly he speaks English with us. He just speak a little bit Chinese to grandparents, but not in fully sentence. My husband decided to move back to HK in last late Nov. So, we applied SJS for him immediately in OVERSEA via ESF web site and luckly we didn't missed the right time for application. And they are friendly and happy to contact via email. We got a letter for interview on early Jan and classification him in Cat 1. My son did the interview in mid of Jan. For the interview, my son just drew a picture about three of us and did some art used by scissors and glue. They did the general chat with each parents to ask about your kid. So, I would say it is not interview. Last, we got a confirmation letter after CNY.
