小女今年將升讀SC K1 英普班, 坊間有好多phonics class 諗緊好唔好幫佢報, 但又怕同學校教嘅有矛盾令佢唔知跟邊個好..有冇媽媽可指教下, 你小朋友有外出讀phonics嗎? 用邊套教材? Thanks.

Apologise I was not familiar with Kowloon side authorised Letterland Phonics school. But if you have time I recommended you get a teacher pack of Letterland fixed it phonics. You can use the CDs & workbooks to teach your kinds pronounciations and blendings.
Those workbooks are colourful and have interesting exercise to work with the kids.
Before make such investment. You can get a Letterland ABC and the CD to let the kid know the Letterland characters and basic sound from A-Z first.

呀囡現K1, 之前都想同佢搵phonics學, 但學校都有教的 (亦有CD給家長回家聽的). 所以唔想搞亂佢. 等k2先再諗.

SC has a very good system teaching kids phonics. My girl is going to K3 next year and she has no problem reading story books. She is now reading Oxford Reading Tree stage 5 at home. We read almost everynite with one story and she can sound out all the word even unfamiliar vocabs.

學校係有得學, SC 冇用外面的phonics system, 佢係用自家教材. k1會學a-z 26個音, k2會review一次26個音, 再家ed, at 呢d學blending. K3學期尾會教到sh, ch, st, fl, cl, sl, 等, 但唔會完成晒, 如未教 ai, i_e, 呢d...自己諗住若果小學唔教phonics, 會比囡囡响外面讀埋未教嗰d就ok. (一直都冇响外面讀)
若果家長英文唔太差, 其實伴讀自己教都ok.

My son is going to attend SC K1 in this Sep. Do you suggest he should attend the Letterland from begining of K1 or when is the best time? Thanks!!!

I won't suggest your children to take Letterland class until he able to hold the pen and write some letters. The Letterland course has classworks and need the children do some simple writing, like A to Z and 3 letter words, in early stage. If your kid is too young, even the school willing to accept your kid enrolment, I don't think the class will able to benefit your kid a lot.

SC using SC Phonics system (school self developed system), but the pronounciation is closed to Letterland Phonics.

K2-K3 經常都教PHONICS, K1出去學增益不大
我女讀完三年, 冇上過任何和學術有關的班, 但佢學術上完全唔會跟唔上
我寧願俾佢睡多幾個鐘

since letterland phonics is similar to SC phonics, that's y better than jolly phonics? could u pls tell me more y letterland not jolly? many thanks~~~
also, as u mentioned, it's better to start phonics at K2 instead of K1? thanks~~
