Dear All,
I am new here and am now in a dilemma which is very diffult for us.
My dauger is a Aug 2009 baby, so we don't have much choice for PN kindergarten and we don't have much connections with those we really want her to get in.
To cut everything short, we are un-sure if we should let her goto an Int'l School or Local School. Of course we want her to get into DGS, St. Paul's, Maryknoll etc ... that's ideal but we are really not sure if that's suitable for her.
Peronsality:
- My daughter is a very active child and she seriously have problem in sitting and doing one thing for long. Even playing with ipad or watching tv can't make her sit down for long. At most 10 mins. We figured she's the type that is a bit hyperactive but not 100% sure.
Choice of Pre-Nursery Kindergarten:
1. St. Paul's Day Nursery = (Rejected)
2. Victoria (Harbor Heights) = (Rejected)
3. Lingnan (Accepted AM) Finish at 1230pm
4. Rightmind (Accepted PM) Start at 1330pm
5. Tutor-Time (waiting list)
We're thinking of letting her do 2 classes a day but that really might be too tiring and she'll have to eat her lunch in the car while she goes from one school to another.
Questions:
- Shall we go with Lingnan + Rightmind at the same time? Let her suffer a year and hope that she get the perfect training and ready for P1?
- If we only take one Kinder course, which one shall we go for? Lingnan (all chinese) or Rightmind or Tutortime (Eng/Mandarin)?
We're really frustrated and hope BK Mommies or Daddies can please kindly give us some advise.
Greatly appreciate your reply.

personally don't like Rightmight's concept, so I'd opt for Lingnan, I know it's a very caring school, my friend's kid is studying there and she's very positive towards this school, I almost sent my girl to Lingnan's whole day class last year but finally gave up because of the transportation issue.
I think experienced and caring teacher is more important at the PN stage.

A few things:
1. If it is only PN - don't worry too much as you can apply for K1 again. My boss's son graduated from Lingnan and he likes the school. My own expereience - my son nearly got all rejected when apply for PN (he is July boy) but he got 5 out of 7 schools accepted for K1 (and quite good one too). So, kids change a lot in a few months. don't worry!
2. For 2 yrs old..., I really don't think should go to 2 schools.
3. I am not sure about Rightmind. But if you may go to local school, tutor time won't the right one.

Nothing wrong with active kids.
In fact, there appears to be a correlation between active kids and clever kids.
If I were you, go for the full Monty and see how it goes.
Contrary to your initial belief, it may not make your daughter suffer. She may enjoy it.
On the other hand, if later on you find out she doesn't like 2 schools at the same time (it could be OTT at her age and/or too stressful for you and/or your driver/nanny), drop one.
By then, you should have a better idea of which one is more suitable.
Hope all goes well.

personally I perfer Rightmind rather than LN as they are adopting new education concept and kids are smart there. As far as I know, some kids there will go to international school after K2, so fit your both plan (to international school or local school). For LN, it seems a normal local kinder only for me. I don't sure any speical advantage your kid can get there , or locationwise that is more close to your home ? So if for me, I would go for Rightmind only and keep the rest time for other activities which Rightmind don't provide or u think the kid will interest. Go to 2 kinder can be too tire for small kids, specially in N1 or K1
But for the hyperactive problem, unlike other's comment here, I think that is the point u need to pay close attention. Specially when the kid in K1/K2, the problem can be more obvious , short attention span can be a signal for problem like ADD or ADHD, kids with that is very diff to suitable for local system which required much repeat practice in writing or homework, so go to those DSS / Private / Internation school would be your better choice I think..

Thanks everyone for your input .. we truly appreciated.
We have to make a decision by 29th. I think we decide to go for LN am (becos I think most of the band 1 local good schools interview in Cantonese) and someone have been speaking english with her at home all the time. We'll take Rightmind Playgroup and some other english playgroup to brush up her english incase she has to goto int'l school.
We're uncertain if she's ADHD, our doctor said we should not even think about this topic till she's 2+ which is in just a few months time.
If she is, I do agree local school system may not be suitable for her.
Just really don't want to make any wrong decision for her future.
Sigh .......... nowadays its really hard .. or are we giving ourself too much stress?

Don't worry and just take it easy.
Don't give yourself too much stress and anxiety since its only PN, which in my opinion is not so important.
More important will be the chance of going into good K1, which may affect on the P1 allocation. Even those PN in unfamous KG could go to good K1 KG.
But two schools in a day is definitely no good. At this age the child still need the afternoon snap. Adequate sleep is important to the brain development.
Lingnan is famous for its caring and happy school life. Going for PN in Lingnan is a good choice.
Tutor time will only lead to international school. They teach PTH and English where both are not the language used for most of the K1 interviews.
Rightmind I have no idea.
Just observe your kid's development more closely and find some info on the internet on the ADHD topic. Then you could have some more idea.
Anyway at this age the child can change a lot in few months, especially after they went to school. Many babies will become more discipline afterwards.
Good Luck!
