通常都唔收重讀生,除非你有特殊理由or本身間學校嚴重收生不足......

有個fd個囡讀dgjs話有d同學都係repeat小一入,不過5知幾多係咁.

i do think there are many such cases.

esp.for smalll children of Oct to Dec, the parents may tend to think of repeating either K3 or P1. Hence, some will think why not repeating P1 to learn sth. more advanced

Some famous primary schools do favour big children.

That's very much a matter of personal choice, i think

I just met my daughter's interest class classmate last week. I had a quick chat with her mom and she told me that her son is studying in a private primary school for p.1, but he will be studying in St Paul co edu next yr for p.1. His son was born in Oct. He got a few good offers this year cos' his son is studying in p1 already, more mature than those k3 students go to an interview. So better try if u really want to.

I do think repeating P1 is a win-win situation.  Big age children do perform better in the early stage of primary schools, esp. in HK where almost all elite + famous gov't schools usually have the academic standard starts sharply at P1. So repeating P1 will let the children feel easier and let them gain more confidence, and give them more advantages than disadvantages in the next few years onwards.  Imagine, these kids are almost 9-12 months older than the rest of the class......they should out-perform the rest as they get used to the pace and the learning methodology of primary students. The advantages do diminish gradually when the children have to develop and learn things more independently.
On the same token, schools would feel much easier to train up these big age children and allow the school to build their "academic and extra-curricular results".

I have a friend whose P1 kid got into one of the top school as well by repeating.

The repeating P1 year would not be a waste, because different school have different levels of academics and things to learn and play.

如果個小朋友資質不錯，讀左一年小一課程又要再repeat，對住d大部份佢都已讀過而佢又覺得淺既野，你會覺得佢重會吾會有興趣上堂？佢又會吾會覺得悶？

又或者佢會覺得因為d野之前都學過，吾駛點用功都可名列前茅，再上小二，可能會容易感到挫敗！

考慮插班啦!小二唔得,咪小三、小四插..
因為Repeat,對小朋友的心理會有不良影响(尤其学校成績不太差)

In my opinion, I think it's worthy to repeat p1 in st paul's co edu in my friend's son's case. His parents was aiming for st jo but failed in the lucky draw. They chose the private school (happy learning style) because there was no other choices! It was not their cup of tea at all. Now they have the offer from st paul's co edu, which is a school that the syllabus is more difficult than many primary schools. So their son will learn a lot in the coming p1 life also. It wasn't a waste of a yr at all.

Agreed ah. St. Paul's co-ed has higher academic levels. Particularly if the existing school is a happy learning style. It would be very different.
