Many primary schools don't accept portfolio anymore. Those accept portfolio may limit the number of pages or content e.g. certs only. Therefore, you need to tailor made the portfolio in accordance with the school's requirement.

May I share my thoughts even though I am not a mother? 
Many schools already prohibit the use of folders. Check the requirements of different schools regarding portfolios carefully, such as number of pages or sheets, number of sides per page, the kind of paper not to be used, etc. Clarify with the school where there is any ambiguity in their stated requirements.

我自己PRINT, 我唔係用CLEAR FOLDER, 我用有條膠棒"夾"住個FOLDER 果類. (唔知你明唔明)
我覺得咁樣比較易睇, 人地 RE-USE 個 FOLDER 都唔洗逐D逐D抽返D 紙出來.

Folders are not necessary as it requires additional effort from the school in handling. Whether it can be used depends on the existence of any prohibition stated in the application procedures. My experience is, we bought 9 folders and we turned out using only 1 as the other schools did not allow using folders.

要注意，有d學校(例如St Paul Boys)唔收生活相，如果生活相o係單一頁，佢地會叫你拿走，到時就要當場拆開個檔案。
我地個檔案最精簡可以三版印晒，後邊o既證書/成績表/推薦信副本，睇o下唔同學校o既規定精選加入。原帖由 c41ux 於 11-3-12 00:52 發表

我是自己print完，然後用釘書機釘。試過懶靚用了clear holder，學校職員叫我老公把portfolio抽番出嚟，然後用釘書機釘埋佢，所以自此我只用釘書機釘便算了。

我都係用呢一類型嘅folder，如果當場檢查文件，學校覺得有Ｄ嘢唔需要放入個portfolio時，都可以即時「蚊」開條膠捧，將Ｄ唔駛交嘅資料攞番出嚟，之後再重新"sip"番其他要交嘅嘢入個folder度，唔駛拆開粒釘書釘，又唔靚又可能會整爛份portfolio。

I guess you can say our minds are preoccupied with things related to his P1 education. We are planning to sell our current flat and move to another one in western Kowloon, so you can imagine how much needs to be planned and done for it. His kindergarten has allocated some time every day for"

I'm as busy as usual. Busy to resuming my beloved one back to normal study-mood. We've put all academic courses in a very easy / relaxed/ casual progress during the interview period so that she's happy and relaxed. Now, we need to work and chase, especially in her Chinese development. Otherwise, it'll be terrible for her in P.1.
Wow, big project of moving house,..but it worths, right? Congratulations again for getting YW offer, big achievement!

然後再講關於小朋友嘅學習, 課外活動, 成長, 家庭生活etc?

我地個portfolio用左兩版文字簡單列出小朋友有乜野課外活動同參加過乜野比賽或者公開試，當然要組織到令校長容易睇得明同埋突出重點，切忌太詳盡，因為校長唔會同你逐個字慢慢睇。其他各頁就係證書，推薦信等輔助文件，可按照不同學校o既篇幅限制彈性處理。至於成長過程或生活照，似乎大部份學校對呢方面唔太注重，有d仲講明唔收呢d資料。
順帶一提，舊年大部份學校都限制張數為5-6張紙，所以要以質取勝；男拔更要求portfolio加所有成績表同父母身份證明文件不得超過10版紙，可見校長唔係想睇流水帳，而係透過portfolio對小朋友同父母o既培養方法有初步了解。
我地有申請o既八間學校中，高主教只收兩版紙，英華10張紙可雙面，男拔10版紙全包，其他都係5-6張紙。
另外，自行階段理論上唔駛收portfolio，因為派位只睇分數，同分抽籤；有d人會覺得對日後叩門有幫助，所以可以考慮交表o個陣帶一份去，學校肯收就俾佢，唔肯收就算。原帖由 BabyHilary 於 11-3-22 00:28 發表

一些分享:
Portfolio最好自己（或c6）做。
要簡單易明。（我連個人（小孩)資料都無寫，反正application form已經有。除非你想show下自己的quali！）
內容一般是:-
爸爸媽媽給校長的信
校內生活及表現
曾參加過的課外活動
所得到獎項
小孩性格和興趣
一些小孩作品
公益活動
生活體驗 （本地 or 外遊）
other reference letters
有些還寫父母背景
已經很豐富了。其實不同人有不同情況，不是每一項都需要。我便沒有特別背景可寫。
關鍵是你要讓人知道為什麼你的小孩適合讀你申請的小學。所以盡可能不要每份portfolio都一樣。

高主教o個份我只係放文字，無任何證書。
其他學校o既話，通常要將證書/推薦信壓縮，要睇o下d字縮左之後仲睇唔睇到，縮得細到睇唔到就擺落去都無意思啦 (校長多數已經有老花，你都要照顧o下佢地o既需要)。

I usually assume the cover letter to be excluded from the page limit of the portfolio itself.
Your letter should start with the school's name and address, followed by "Attention: Ms. Lam Woon Sum, Principal". Accordingly, the 上款 should be "Dear Sirs". Technically speaking, you are writing to the school for the application, not to the principal personally.原帖由 eggmama 於 11-3-23 06:27 發表

面試內容舊年已經詳細分享過，你可以利用版面上方o既論壇搜索功能找找。
如果有活動/表演/比賽/考試證書想校長知道但係黎唔切交，可以o係活動/表演/比賽/考試列表或清單內寫明將會舉行o既日期，因為證書只係次要，最重要係學校知道你個小朋友會參與。個人唔太建議臨場要學校幫你找portfolio放入去，因為要o係二千幾份找出黎，會好花功夫；如果證書內容真係突出到一定要校長知，就試下見校長時親手交俾佢，順便令校長印象深刻d，不過由於小朋友第一次見校長係group interview，佢地可能唔記得俾校長，又會佔用左其他人o既時間。最安全o既做法，就係打電話問o下學校最好係點做。

還有一個問題, 你認為英華會不會喜歡收到有資優兒評估的報告?聽聞有D學校不喜歡

舊年喺第一次排隊等候group interview時，聽到英華嘅職員／義工家長提醒家長如有補充文件，可以在補充文件上寫上考生姓名及編號，然後直接交出去俾佢哋代收及處理（我見有些家長喺嗰陣時補交校長推薦信）。
在2nd interview時，我也有叫囝囝把一張比較重要嘅cert.帶入校長室及馬上親手交給林校長。

升小之事，緊張乃無可厚非，太緊張則對你和仔仔都不好，一定要找辦法減壓。

From your experience, could you pls share a bit more here (if not convenient, pls pms).
1. page 1: kid's photo ?( i wonder it's necessary as the application form has a photo?)
2. page 2 & 3: summary of achievement (words only)?
3. remaining pages: certificates? recommendation letters?
4. cover letter is excluded from the above portfolio?

My response are marked below:

Add a cover picture (choose an eye-catching picture from your collection) only if you have spare pages.
2. page 2 & 3: summary of achievement (words only)?
Yes. I used a table form to enhance readability.
3. remaining pages: certificates? recommendation letters?
Yes. Shrink the images and put several in one page but keep the "key words" of the certificates and recommendation letters legible. If available space is tight, try highlighting the key text in certificates/recommendation letters (e.g. favourable comments) and re-type with a big and eye-catching font somewhere within the same page.
Some people say we should put family pictures in some of the pages. I find most of the schools do not even look at these pictures, and one of them even asked me to take the page out before submission.
4. cover letter is excluded from the above portfolio?
Strictly speaking, "cover letter" is not part of your child's personal profile, but a letter written by the parents to the school, so I can interpret it as not part of the portfolio; instead, I would treat the portfolio as part of the enclosure of the cover letter.

通常五頁指五版 (5 pages)，五張紙係唔同。至於 "五頁紙"，我較傾向後者，因為五版紙雙面即係兩張半，"x頁紙" 會有一版留空浪費。我都係o個句，如有疑問，切忌亂估，打個電話去學校問清楚，佢地o既答案先可以作準。(當年我每一間小學起碼打過一次電話去問野，呢d申請要求上o既野，佢地都幾願意答。)原帖由 Angel-BB 於 11-4-2 22:38 發表
