Hi, any parents whose kids are in the international stream of Victoria Kindergarten?

1. Are there many mainland Chinese kids?
2. Are the English and Putonghua teachers good?
3. Are kids allowed to communicate in languages other than English and Putonghua in the school?
4. Lots of homework?
5. Do most kids go to primary of Victoria Shanghai Academy after graduate from the kindergarten?

1. Yes, quite a few in the Eng and PTH class
2. My son is K1, so far all the teachers that I met are good.
3. Yes. They can speak in cantonese but it seems they usually commuincate in Eng.
4. No. Just 1-2 work sheets per week + 2 story books. But I was told in K2 and K3, there will be more homework
5. Quite a few but I can't remember the no. You can log on the website to check.

Victoria Kindergarten .. my comments...

1) focus on $ only
2) teachers seems good only when parent around.

However, it may change a lot now

I strongly disagree that Victoria focuses on money only.

I like the school a lot and I think most parents do as well.

My son studied in Vic (HMT) for K1 & 2. He met very good teachers there too!

-Whether the kids speak fluent english or cantonese or pth, it all depends on the parents.
-The net teachers are well qualified.
-Not much homeworks.
-Most of the graduates in Kowloon side, they would choose other schools instead of VSA. And I chose int'l school for my boy.

From their website, I only see 1 graduate admitted by SIS in 2010. Thus I wonder if the English/Putonghua stream in Victoria aims at international schools. However, the majority of graduates go into Victoria Shanghai Academy. But is VSA an international school? I have a question mark.

Not to worry. Maybe Victoria WAS a school which focused on $$ a lot before. I was just trying to share my present feeling as well!

Whether you would like your child to enter traditional local schools (both so-called elite or more ordinary ones) or international schools, Victoria kindy's kids are well-equipped with the language capability.

Victoria would not show the information about the kids who joined int'l school after K2 on the website. The P1 allocation only refers to the graduates, ie K3.

Victoria is not an International School.
It's a Private school.

I know a few kids moved to HKIS, CIS and SIS after K2 but of course the number is very limited.

A majority of the kids after K3 graduation will study at local schools or VSA.
