我想問家長們有冇為子女整一本小學面試 portfolio?
我見而家好多人都整~~
見到D 朋友整得好靚..

小學面試portfolio嘅內容重要過精美包裝，但係相對於面試表現，就面試表現重要過portfolio好多。有小朋友考到五級鋼琴，但係SPCCPS同DBSPD都無second in；另一個小朋友參加公開運動會（每項目有六七十個小朋友參加），攞左三項（跑步、跳遠同擲豆袋）冠軍，考SPCPS同DBSPD都無second in~~~

We did not prepare a portfolio for my daughter's application to DGJS. She got accepted. Here is what we submitted:

- a standard cover letter - 1 page
- parents' resume - 1 page
- family activity, e.g. community services, travel experiences, etc - 1 page
- child's school result + achievement - 1 page

I think it is okay to submit a simple few-page portfolio. But the child's performance during an interview is more important.

I think it is a kind of portfolio already. DGJS only accepts portfolio in 4 pages and that's what you have done. :)

Just wonder.. do you love Les Miserables?

We have seen 5 times already as we love the story very much, 3 times in LN and 2 times in NY.

他不單只有五級鋼琴，還有數學、朗誦及其他多項比賽三甲內的多項証書~~~

還有什麼活動可以俾小朋友參加?
和有那些機構舉辦?
因我見很多活動都要6歲小朋友先可以參加

會不會學校first in時根本唔會睇profolio(因有太多申請者),
到second in 時才開始睇profolio,
再精挑細選合適的學生

所以小朋友就算幾叻入唔到second in都無人知佢叻呢

There are a lot of activities organized by charitable organizations:
- visiting the home for the aged,
- orphans
- etc ...

It all depends on your relationships with the organization.

Besides applying for P.1, volunteering itself is a really good part of education. No matter what the results (P.1) will be, I think children will learn something via the activities that will be proven to be so valuable for them to refer back after they grow up.

Basically anything that you think can attract the interviewers' most attention and let them think that your kids would be much more suitable to the school than any others will do.

The interviewing process of DGJS is at least fair.

During first interview, the teachers can only look at the application form. So, they will know some basic information of the kid but not the portfolio. If the kid is smart enough to pass through the process in the first interview, then they will have the ticket for the second interview. Portfolio will then become important.

Thus, we heard many cases that kids with very strong reference letter are being rejected during first interview. Unfortunately, performance of these kids are not good enough to let Ms. Dai to look at their reference letters or their other skills.

Correct!

DGJS has bottom line. Thus, they need the kids to pass through the first test.

However, information from the application form is sufficient enough for the teachers to know who are related (i.e. sibling, blue blood).

you are really lucky!!! I watched that once in London only. It is the 2nd best musical in the world other than Phantom! hehe

We also did some volunteer works before, such as visiting to elderly house, sell chariety tickets for McDonald's house, selling flats and so on. Now there are more and more volunteer work for the whole family.

and about the parent CV, we also made that too. A few highlight in my daughter's profile as well.

我又有D吾相信。First Interview , 小朋友見校長時, 校長（副校長）是有小朋友的所有資料，包括portfolio。在First Interview 時, 她們用多少時間看就不知道了。

我都見到的確有資料系手,可能揭揭都會掛,但校長真系親口當住甘多人講架.

其實,就算當場點俾分,後來揀人咪一樣會看,interview performance肯定系最重要,但一定唔可以話100%囉,始終都會review其他野,包括成績表,家庭背景,portfolio等

她說: 做portfolio也是考考父母的智慧。她不鼓勵做厚厚的portfolio。
