In my opinion, the textbooks and and tests are not difficult, but I find that in English lessons, teachers esp. the NET teach much more than what the books and tests require. When my child was in P1, a NET encouraged him to use "enormous" and "tiny", instead of using big and small all the time. I think that the school is able to create a pleasurable English learning environment in which students enjoy reading and speaking English. The actual achievement depends on the effort of individual students.

I agreed that it depends on the individual. Not much homework will let student to learn more. For example, my child is in P1 and plan to apply Cambridge-Mover next year. I am not sure it is in the average, or below average level comparing to other Goverment school. According to the previous English test result, the range is not wide, marks of 75% student is between 80 to 100 marks. Obviously, the derviation is not so large.... I guess ...
