剛在4/12去咗聖瑪加利大幼稚園 interview, 請問有無家長知道上下午班會收幾多人?

what do you think about this school? The primary allocation is very good but it was because of the students own reason because of the government system. So I am wondering is this KG good or not in terms of academic level or chance of getting in DSS, etc.
I just wonder maybe the school like to take in people with religious mark and living in the net 12 to make the allocation profile so good.

我覺得兩間既教學方式都唔同~ 好難比較

我都有類似的想法,個個都話派得好....20分入St. Paul's sec primary school 似乎唔難,有15分都抽到. 瑪利曼又可能有家姐,媽咪etc....
實則唔講小一派位,聖大比較其他天主教幼稚園(SHCK and SPK以外),有何好處?

我自己的見解:
SMM 係以天主的愛去教導小朋友, 正如佢地的校訓"愛人如己"~
我自己就鍾意佢係天主教幼稚園; 而有20分+target 天主教聖保祿小學, 小一自行分配有D把握~
SMM 是比較開心和輕鬆的幼稚園, 應該係冇默書~
如果打算俾小朋友報直資/私立, 可能要加訓練~

如果自行分配, 真係好睇你有幾多分... 地區喺第1階段唔重要啊~

To my impression, this is a school good for girls, esp if you have 20 points or above - you can see the P1 allocation of girls are very good in going to band 1 school.
I have heard that even for knocking the door, St Margaret girls can go for Marymount.

計小朋友！
小朋友在三歲之前跟隨父或母領洗，才有五分。

Both kindergartens are good but St. Margaret has a strong statistical track that graduates can go into good primary....from your photo, seems you have a daughter

it is a Catholic kindergartens and imagine it has total 150 seats for both boys and girls.......for daughters, many can go to (1) St. Paul's Primary Catholic School (2) Marymount (3) St. Francis......

We are in the same boat. We are Catholic and St. Margaret's is our 堂 區. Initially, I would like to send my daughter to SMM also as we live very close by. However, after attending the interview, the environment is not as ideal as I thought. Personally, I think Rosaryhill's environment is better. (My daughter is attending Rosaryhill for nursery and we think the teachers there are also very nice and care about the children a lot. My husband prefers RHS......)
Going back to your choice, we also went to True Light for interview on 4/12. Putting aside the religion issue, True Light gave us a better impression in terms of environment, organization and the teachers seem caring also. So rank it higher than SMM. We didn't apply to KCS.

You are welcomed.... good luck and as I read some of your messages in other thread, I think for your daughter, my personal choice will be as below if you got all the offer
1. St. Paul's Convent
2. Sacred Heart
3. St. Margaret's
4. St. Paul's Church
I will go to St. Paul's Church this coming Saturday to register for my youngest son....

我個女係第二，已經小五分，又未受洗，，不過佢係基督教有無用呢？

My kid is a boy....therefore, my choice is a bit different
He is currently in Victoria Pre-Nursery.......I will send him to St. Paul's church ...... and give up Victoria Kindergarten K1

我反而覺得SMM的校舍算OK喎,真光的優點只係一條龍, 感覺上佢的教學方式比較舊, 而SMM的老師俾我的感覺很有愛心...
SMM其實入讀的機會其實已經比其他學校大, 因為佢只IN 1000人,比起其他IN 成千幾二千人的KG,呢間相對機會更高掛
黎緊,仲有聖心, SPK, 聖公會, 睇怕仲要煩多2個月

Rosaryhill is a 一條龍 package (from kindergarten all the way to secondary school....), you don't have to worry too much as long as your daughter is "on track". But of course, St. Paul's church kindergarten is more famous.
St. Paul's Church is a very good kindergarten, however, you have to worry about 升小一, 女兒可以被派往名校小學... 但亦可以被派往普通小學, 全是運氣
But you can still apply for any DSS schools in Hong Kong
In my opinion, you don't have to worry too much at this moment, after you go to Sacred Heart and St. Pauls' Convent and have results, you will know your answer, these 2 一條龍 kindergartens are perfect choices for your daughter

津貼小學經政府的第一階段和統一派位後餘下的"叩門"學位應該大約是 10%, 還要計埋校長和眾老師都可能有 d 親戚朋友的子女要幫手入校, 所以叩門 chances are very slim, 但當然李嘉誠去叩門又會有分別....嘻嘻
如果小一時考直資或私校, 則全睇小朋友面試表現或connection , 我覺得你手上各間 kindergarten 的 offer 都很好, 邊間畢業都冇乜所謂, 但當然要 ensure 你的小朋友在面試要識答
如果我的小朋友係女女的話, 我的選擇應該會係一間一條龍的女校幼稚園, 因唔想在 P.1 時再煩多次選校, 祝你出年一月考到 Sacred Heart and St. Paul's Convent !!

cccbaby: They've English lessons everyday, but no native in this school. From K1, they need to hand in simple study report every week (Chinese/English story books every other week). I must say the syllabus is not that difficult (but compared to St Paul's Convent, it is). Starting from K3, the students are needed to recite an english word per day.
moonmoon^^: I'm a Catholic + old student, that's why I got 25 marks. Don't give up as there are still half of the spaces from the 2nd draw for these schools in Net 12.
The former principal once told us some schools like our students very much, I'm not sure if it was just her own opinion, or was she implying something.

Indeed writing is not my major concern as kid can catch up anyway however oral english must be learnt in early age in order to build up a native tongue. Thanks anyway I have some more understanding about the school

你上教育署個網站上一看就明白....
(1) 第一階段:
(a) 如果有大女/大仔讀緊該小學 or 父母於該小學工作, 必收
(b) 計分取錄: 教友/舊生/首名子女.....etc
(2) 統一派位:

I think Victoria is a very good 教育機構, they have good name, no doubt...
In my opinion, there are 3 types of 升小一 parents will send their kids to Victoria
(1) Want to attend Victoria Shanghai Academy (some of them attempted to apply at least one or more other international schools, but did not get an offer)
(2) Eventually want to attend ESF, international school or other IB private school....
(3) Everyone else want to attend local 名校小一
For Type (1) parent, they will let their kids to stay at Victoria from Pre-Nursery to K3
For Type (2) parents, if they have other better offers (i.e, K1 or K2 offer from ESF, Singapore International School....etc. And because many international school not offer Pre-Nursery class, they send their kids to Victoria Pre-Nursery and leave at K1), normally they will leave Victoria for better choices....
For Type (3) parents, exclude the top-notch primary (DB/DG/St. Pauls' Co-Ed), there are many 有聯系or一條龍名校 has kindergartens but mostly are girls school, such as St. Paul's Convent/Sacred Heart/St. Clare's/Good Hope/Heep Yunn
For boys, there are St. Joseph's (K2 and K3 only).....
There are some Victoria parents will switch their kids to these school in K1 or K2

銅鑼灣系屬于１２網。好多適合女仔的小學。

叩門，地區應該無分加，不過住得近應該都好Ｄ呱，因爲叩門位得好小，要面試家長同小朋友，主要看小朋友表現。如果大抽獎報左第一自願系聖保祿，抽吾到再去叩門，應該有Ｄ誠意分。

Don't really agree with what you said. VC also got lots of students entered into good school. It really depends on your kid's ability at the end. Nothing is really guarantee.

我以前都問過堂區, 小朋友要在3歲前領洗...不過, 我有朋友的小朋友4歲都可以跟隨父母領洗...我相信你要問一問你自己的堂區去確定這一點...
