Dearest beautiful ladies, do you know how to 'encourage' a 8-yr-old boy to continue the Kumon mathematics (He hates that very much now and is his deep-rooted issue) ? Since my brother's wife is worrying how to talk to her boy (my nephrew) in his words to perusade him Kumon maths is good for him........Pl. help her!

如果小朋友咁抗拒，最後可努力的就係同導師傾下，問題係邊？其實當年我女都好怕做公文數，真係激氣到想死，我就覺得，我要比錢，佢又辛苦，而且小學都忙啦，所以停左佢。同時我都發覺公民數都真係幾悶，唔係個個小朋友都受到佢呢D死做爛做，重覆又重覆的學習模式。

所以我細仔都無學公民數，唔想佢重蹈家姐的覆徹。

我自已覺得，公民只係額外的練習，同學校的課程並無直接關係，你阿嫂點解咁堅持一定係好？坊間還有很多其他選擇，唔一定係要讀公民數。

有無同小朋友傾過點解佢咁抗拒？先了解左再作決定吧。

You are so 'saisum', yes, I also think there are much other better choices.

For my 阿嫂's case, I understand her objectives, my nephrew studied in International school.  He has much much less homework than local school.  Initially she just wants to give Kumon as additional homework and act as the routine maths training for building up the foundation.  Besides, there were big gap of difficulties even between mathematical lessons in International school.  The hardness is not as progressive as local school (Plus very few homework) results in the pruzzling of kids dealing with such big gap in every lesson

The frustration and deep-root point is: my nephrew has the good heart to learn.  However, he was so frustrated one day that the teacher in Kumon did not tell him how to do the exercise, just let him to do alone helplessly in 2 hrs (even need the little him to 'think' about the implication of the maths example.).

I can imagine how hurt the kid is always turned down in the Kumon lessons.  So, the unhappiness is long-term one.

I agree with you, there must be more appropriate means of suitable course for him.  Moreover, if one kid does not fit so well to the system, it is not his / her fault.  It is just the matter of suitability.

除悶及浪費時間外,小朋友漸漸記得晒d答案(2位+-x/),唔想計數·
最衰它只能初小有d用,高小巳無用了.
