A friend of mine's daughter is going to be K3 next year.
She wanna to know how to rank/choose the following HK side girls' school (such as workload, etc) ?

1) Sacred Heart (private)
2) St Paul Convent
3) St Paul Catholic
4) St Stephen Girls
5) Marymount

Also any of the schools require the kid to learn sport (eg swimming) and music (eg piano) compulsorily ?

THANKS

I think the most difficult one to get in is St Paul Convent if you are not from their KG.  Then is Marymount as this is an English primary school and the most popular girl school in net 12.  20 marks could be lucky enough to get a seat in SSGPS this year and the workload of this school is light.  For SH (private), my impression is not difficult to get in as the no. of class and the size of class are large.  If fail in the private session, can try the pm session in the lucky draw.  Yet, the syllabus in the private session is more difficult than the subsidized session. For St Paul Catholic, some said 15 marksin the first round still have chance.

St Francis, some said 15 marks in the first round still have chance as most parents in net 12 would rush for Marymount.

True Light, good school with large capmus, emphasis on moral education. But difficult to get in if not from their KG.  This year, they only offer 50 seats for out-siders.

St Clare, in my opinion, most easy to get in among these three schools.  In fact, I have not heard of any one not admitted in the past 5 years after attending the interviews.  Don't know it is because of the superior abilities of my friends' girls or it is really easy to secure a seat.  This is an English primary school with French lessons.

My personal view of the ranking for girls school on HK Island

1) Canossa Scared Heart (private)
2) St. Paul Convent
3) Marymount
4) St. Stephen Girls
5) True Light
6) St. Clare

St Paul Catholic is not comparable to these 6 schools.

Just my personal opinion.
Hope this helps.

My ranking is more or less the same as Wootaitai:

1)SPC
2)Marymount
3)St Stephen
4)SH
5)St Paul Catholic/St Francis
7)St Clares/TL

True light is not difficult to get in at all.  All of my friends were able to get a seat.  Some of my friends in their kindergarten opt for subsidized school after they graduate from TL kinder.
SPC is extremely difficult to get in as there are almost 1000/3000 aplicants for SPN/SPK. Since there is no open applicantion for SPC.  I have no idea about the no. of applicantions.  However, I know almost every friend of mine sent knock door letter to SPC when they're in K3.  Some of them were lucky enough to get the interview chance, but not all.  I heard that they have shortlisted about 120 applicants among those knock door letters and admitted 5 finally.
I'm not too familiar with SH, so no comment.
The rest are subsidized school which is purely depends on luck, based on my observation, Marymount/St. Stephen is the lowest chance even though 20 marks is not guarantee.  The others are quite safe if you have 20 marks, most of my friends got in SP Catholic/St Francis with 15 marks.

My suggestion is enroll SPC/SH/St Clare/TL to see how it goes.  If you have back-up, you can agreesively to try Marymount/St Stephen.
