HKPS 之前填表時兩樣都選了, in 之前要決定報那個 stream, 本地班同國際班, 你地會點選? 係唔係國際班俾本地班更難入?

LunB, even you ticked both, but HKPS already indicated in your interview card (they should have sent you) which stream you are going to have interview.What do you mean by "in 之前要決定報那個 stream?"

Would they expect the kids speaking in mandarin?? It would be difficult for them. I think as long as our kids can show to the interviewer that they understand some simple instruction in mandarin, that should be good enough, right?

I don't know. There is no indication on the interview card sent to me. I phoned them today and they just said that someone will call me later to confirm on this.
I think that anglo-class should be less competitive than international class, but anglo-class is not what i need. really difficult to decide!

Why Anglo-Chinese class is not what you want ah...
My girl has been studying in Anglo-Chinese N1 class of HKPS (Ascot) for about 2.5 months... She has shown me quite a high level of oral proficiency in PTH.  She is able to read many short passages like "我是一個好孩子, 會唱會跳又會走, 自己洗臉和漱口, 不用別人來幫手" in PTH by herself! You can see that the words are rarely duplicated.  I didn't teach her any PTH before her schooling although my PTH is ok good since I am scared that she will mix up the languages. What she learnt was totally from her school.  For me, as a mother and for her, as a little 2.5 yrs old girl, I am satisfied with her PTH level.
For your additional information, the Anglo-Chinese class students of HKPS(Ascot) will automatically convert to Eng-PTH class when they enter K2.  So there is no harm to choose Anglo-Chinese class.  BTW, I agree with you that it is relatively less competitive if you choose Anglo-Chinese class.
Hope the above will help.  Of course if your target is HKPS (Kowloon Tong) you need advice from other mothers!

我當年幫仔仔選中英文班為n1，因為無信心仔仔在interview ge時候能夠聽得明pth指令(兩歲前我只著重廣東話同英文)，而且interview ge時候我未係好sure仔仔ge語言天份係好定一般，什至差，唔想因為自己喜好而勉強要仔仔行三種語言，最後好好彩收左中英文am class，到左n1下學期，學校會派通告通知k1拺邊類班，你可以到時再決定~
Btw, 就算中英文班，每天都有20-30分鐘pth堂~

P.S我仔仔係 Kowloon Tong hkps

a thousand thank for your information! the reason why i don't like Anglo-chinese class is that i want her to have more explosure in English and PTH. But now i know that the Anglo chinese class still serves what i need.
would you please tell me if it is difficult for your kid to adapt to the change from Anglo-chinese class to international class in K2?

thanks for your reply. I may opt anglo-chinese class for her, coz she has never explosed to PTH yet.

You are welcome.
Don't worry. Students of Anglo-Chinese class will have adequate explosure in Eng and PTH.
I can't tell you about the adaptability since my girl is just in N1 class. But I have confidence that there won't be problems as her school informed us earlier this yr that it will increase the teaching time in Eng and PTH in K1 so as to ensure that the students can adapt to the change when they promote to K2.

Sure! As far as I remember, the interview was divided into 2 parts:
1st part: led us (parents + kid) to sit by a table and played blocks together.
2nd part: had interview with a teacher. My girl was required to:
-say hello to the teacher;
-point out her or her parents' eyes/ears/mouth/nose;
-identify fruits such as apple, banana etc and animals like dog and cat;
-give sth to her parents;
-put sth inside a basket; and
-say thank you when she was given a present and goodbye.

(1) 際班係咪完全無廣東話, 淨係得英文同pth?  -->係，學校仲要求小朋友在校內只可以講pth同英文，不論對老師同小朋友互相之間都一樣

(2) 而中英文班同國際班係咪都係雙班主任制呢?  -->係，n1因為收生比k1少，所以中英文班係一位外籍老師+一位廣東話老師，舊年我仔仔o個班2:17，
                                                                        今年仔仔轉左國際班，有一位外籍老師+一位pth老師做班主任，再加一位pth助教老師，3:28~

(3) 去到k2係咪完全唔會用廣東話? --> 如果n1已經選國際班，一返學已經唔會用廣東話

(1) It should be... since my girl is in Anglo-Chinese class so you better check it out from parents with kids from Eng-PTH class. I think it's important for kids who don't have any explosure in PTH before schooling to have their school life commenced with Anglo-Chinese class as they will be taught in at least one (or two maybe, Cantonese & Eng) language(s) that they are familiar with and it will make life easier for them. BTW, as far as I know Eng-PTH class is designed for kids whose mother tongue is Eng/PTH.

(2) Yes in HKPS (Ascot).

(3) Yes it should be.
