Heard that no notification letters will be sent out from SPCC before 20/11/2010, as different from the practice last few years. Parents have to check on-line for the final list on 22/11/2010 and notification letters will only be sent by batches on or after 22/11/2010.

Last year, the result was posted at 9:00 that day.

Very true if the kid is the first one in your family. This is my second one, so I am not really nervous...

No wor....this is my second one too and I am still very nervous!!! Actually more nervous then the first time cuz I know her chance of getting into the other schools are slim since they all asked her where does her brother go to school!

If the information provided by the registry staff is perfectly correct (as read from previous threads, it seems that different registry staff had conveyed different messages to enquirers on the 2nd interview notification issue), no notification letters will be received these few days before 22/11 (which is different from the practice last year).
Oh, then many many parents would have a blue holiday - minds being restless to keep on thinking about the possible results. Didn't the Headmistress mention SPCC results would be released a bit earlier than the discretionary ones?

There is improvement in the recent years. In the past, the school did not post it on the web-site but just informed you by mail and you did not know the exact date when they sent out the letters.
My wife had been waiting at the lift lobby around the same time everyday when the postman came. It lasted for about month. Just to receive the letter at once.

oh perhaps your elder one is studying in a DSS as well ? My elder one is studying in a fairly good government aided school. So my 2nd one would directly admitted to the same one. That's why I am not nervous...
I will give up the seat in SPCC if i am offered. Will allow my 2nd one go to the same school with the elder one and release out the seat to other in needs.
I applied to SPCC just because I wanted to allow my 2nd one to go thru the interview experience... quite silly tho. I have no idea that my kid is smart enough to get admitted into such prestigious school !

Yes, I've struggled for a while about giving up the place (tho SPCC hasn't really admitted my kid yet ^^).
As I've asked a few parents who have kids studying in there. They all feel satisfied with the school and teachers especially; however, the existing school my elder one attending is good enough. Plus it is easier for me to take care both of them in the same school.

I feel a bit down for 30 mins after learning that my kid is on "waiting", but then now feel better after readjusting my mood, as we have another good offer, we dont know the SPCC selection criteria, but not very surprised about the result. Any parents whose kids on waiting list can share their feelings please?

Not surprised about the result because our interview just lasted for 10 mins, while many others' lasted for 20 to 30 mins, so I have a gut feeling that the we are not the "targetted" case

Mine last for about 25 mins but Mrs. Lee mentioned nothing about outward bound and computer purchase. Did the parents who got accepted mention about these. She only mentioned about the curriculum of the school

Now I really believe in the theory that Ms Lee already had finalised the list before the second interview, based on what the parents said in this forum and my own experience. Some interviews lasted for almost 30 mins while Ms Lee mentioned everything ranging from curriculum to purchase of computers, for those already on the waiting list, the interviews last only 10 to 15 minutes and only very vague questions were asked. I believe that the purpose of the second interviews is to reconfirm the final list is ok (in case some parents appear very abnormal). So everything has been decided before the 2nd interview, that appears very true to me now

Don't be so sad !! I fully understand your feelings. When I received the first reject letter from school, I nearly cried. I just wonder if i overestimate the standard of my child. But now it proved that I am wrong. He really did a great job. I promised him that I will take him for an overseas trip.
My husband is professional. But according to my experience of the 2nd interview, I can feel that the Headmistress already has a priority list after the 1st interview. She just want to have a "look" of the parents. This is what I think.

Nevertheless, I also have the thought that she already has in mind the shortlisted candidates during the 2nd interview.

No ar, but she mentioned about different kinds of ECAs and the curriculum in detail (esp.Chinese and maths). She said the Chinese level in p6 will be equivalent to f3 level so the kids will have no problem when they promote to SPCC

SPCCPS唔會問學術方面的問題.
我覺得佢主要考小朋友記性及表達能力, 如記位置及講故事, 還有解難應變能力, 及與其他小朋友相處及合作等(一同玩玩具). 校長所問的都是很普通及一般性的問題.

The content of SPCC's rejection letter shows quality choice of words...but it looks cool also as it's only a "mass production letter" without printing/specifying the applicant's name nor application no..
Btw, the letter was dated 19 Nov...same for the letter chop.

Nothing academic ( like Maths etc) but kid needs to have good concentration and good memory. Better to be polite and can speak clearly. My daughter played memory game twice - one time with other kids outside, and one time with the Principal. Principal read her a story and asked a few questions.

I am really happy that my daughter got accepted, but worried about some of my friends who are on waiting list. Please for those who get DBS and DGS offer at the end and decided to go there, or have decided to go to another school, please please don't hold the SPCC space so that people on waiting list can receive the offer.

As per your post dated 08Oct2010, you have decided to give up SPCC's interview because your daughter will not go to SPCC even receives the offer. Now, your daughter got the offer and you are again talking about giving it up.
You must be facing some real challenge and have hidden concern. Hope you can overcome it and make an appropriate choice for your daughter.

Waiting list既parents, 吾好氣餒, 俾D信心, 仲有機會, 希望在人間!
我好明白being rejected既感受, 記得我收吾到電話果幾日, 好似世界末日咁, 因為我對個女有期望, 佢亦對自己滿有信心, 仲記得佢1st in完行出黎時, 我只係問佢一句"好吾好玩", 佢胸有成竹咁直接答我"我覺得佢會收我", 之後仲將全個過程好清楚講番出黎, 所有環節都做得好好, 又咁啱玩3個games都係屋企有既(matching, memory & 其中shapes to form icons直情同屋企果盒一模一樣), 佢仲話有小朋友跌左本書佢幫佢執添,....點知..., 世事無絕對! 當時down到落谷底, 依家咪又可站起來encourage大家, just a matter of time, "沒有過不了的事情, 只有過不了的心情", 一定有一間適合你小朋友讀既學校收佢既!
千其吾好怪責自己, 因為實在有太多天時地利人和既因素, 其實我覺得每個小朋友都很捧, 佢地得幾歲人仔, 真正懂事可能得兩年, 又有咩achievements可言, 其實個個qualities真係差不多, 除非係genuine gifted. 有成2,400人考, chance is really slim, though not scientific to say that but really need "運氣", 一切都是天意吧!

可況講下小一的功課量, 要唔要每天做功課做到好夜.
另一我好擔心的事, 想請教, spcc 的考試, 會唔會考好多課外野, 即係話跟足書本讀晒, 都未必考到好成績.
請問 spcc 一年幾多測幾多考, 係唔係次次都計分?
最後, 想請問, spcc 多唔多課外活動要小朋友參加, 一般一個禮拜要留校幾呢?
可能太多問題, 請不要見怪.

舊年我身邊既人,我識既都有三位後補生得佐學位.
咁證明依然有機會,如果家長真係好想讀spcc
不妨寄信到學校.
如果小朋友係冇關係又冇舊生關係但都可以入到200人內
都證明佐小朋友非常優秀.各位爸媽千祈唔好太責怪小朋友.
學校定既面試制度就係咁,入圍的有200人,但最後入選的只能揀150人,始終都有50人未能取得學位.但那並未代表"輸"
只是學校有學校的考量跟選擇.
我都祝福未收到取錄信的50位小朋友找到心水的學校.
好多人都會覺得冇關係既人好難入spcc,
但真係唔係既,2年前我仔都係屬於冇關係,冇宗教,冇舊生關係而考到,而我仔同學中亦好多人都係同我一樣.

仔仔今年小六, 他在學校呢六年過得好開心, 雖然學校改革中文課程後係比較深, 因為要讀國內文章, 但只要上課留心聽書,考試一定無問題, 除非想爭取做優異生, 又另作別論。
所以有機會可以入讀的話, 請勿放棄。跟其他名校相比, SPCC 始終比較優勝 。

大囡今年小三, 學校生活>百份之百愉快!
想講小一二的課程並不深或谷, 尤其是小一, 學校俾好好的適應安排, 上學期完全沒有評估或默書, 簡直係honeymoon.
下學期就算開始有默書, 最密都只係alternate weeks中默&英默, 好多時仲會因不同原因而skip左, 範圍亦不多, 印象中好似仍未有unseen, 背默更加到小三暫時仍都未試過.
相信這比起其他許多學校無論frequency, quantity都輕鬆許多, 我覺得這比起許多學校每星期都用不少時間默書甚至預默, 課堂時間會用得更有建設性.
功課量: 初小時亦一點兒也不多, 囡囡許多時在導修堂已可完成, 就算當日冇導修堂, 回家亦可於個多小時內完成, 並無出現7,8樣功課的情形. 上到小三，功課的深度相對增加，即量亦不算勁多，但許多open-ended questions需要小朋友思考回答，故所需時間亦較多．
課外活動: 每星期有兩日下午孖堂的課外活動課, 有許多不同的選擇; 至於下課後的, 可自由選擇是否報名, 而體育,朗誦或音樂團隊練習方面, 就視乎是否被揀選中, 在長假期或近比賽時會較多加時練習, 不過相信小朋友真係好enjoy參加！
評估: 上學期兩評估一總評/下學期這兩年都係一評估一總評, 每次都計分, 但範圍的課文(如中文,常識及reader)不會重覆.
並無出現教淺考深的情況, 相反我反而appreciate學校會教深考淺, 咁先至真係讓小朋友得益. 只要小朋友專心上課, 相信不會吃力. 對於跟不上的同學, 學校亦有提供增益課程(唔肯定係咪咁叫)· 對於程度較高的同學，又會額外俾一d深d既功課(challenging worksheets), 讓他們獲益更多.
另一樣我想讚既就係評估期間, 學校不會俾任何功課; 長假期亦不會俾功課, 記得小一復活節假期囡囡冇功課, 我話佢真係happy, 暑假亦冇任何功課, 只有一項科學探究的project.
真係唔係賣花讚花香，相信你地日後都會有相同的感受！

I am so suprise that my boy got an offer. We did get the gut feeling we were not the target, at the very beginning. We have no background, not professional and live in N.T.. I must said I am really pround of my boy. He performed very good even at the second interview. He sit stay for 25mins and listen carefully for what we discussion. Ms Lee asked him something about our discussion and he could asnwer it correctly. I believe this is the reason why we got the offer.
KaHeiBaBa, I need you help too. Do you know the school bus contact number (from Central to school). We are thinking whether we need to move! Another big project in front of me

我好明白being rejected既感受, 記得我收吾到電話果幾日, 好似世界末日咁, 因為我對個女有期望, 佢亦對自己滿有信心, 仲記得佢1st in完行出黎時, 我只係問佢一句"好吾好玩", 佢胸有成竹咁直接答我"我覺得佢會收我", 之後仲將全個過程好清楚講番出黎, 所有環節都做得好好, 又咁啱玩3個games都係屋企有既(matching, memory & 其中shapes to form icons直情同屋企果盒一模一樣), 佢仲話有小朋友跌左本書佢幫佢執添,....點知..., 世事無絕對! 當時down到落谷底, 依家咪又可站起來encourage大家, just a matter of time, "沒有過不了的事情, 只有過不了的心情", 一定有一間適合你小朋友讀既學校收佢既!
千其吾好怪責自己, 因為實在有太多天時地利人和既因素, 其實我覺得每個小朋友都很捧, 佢地得幾歲人仔, 真正懂事可能得兩年, 又有咩achievements可言, 其實個個qualities真係差不多, 除非係genuine gifted. 有成2,400人考, chance is really slim, though not scientific to say that but really need "運氣", 一切都是天意吧
講得好好，亦都好恭喜你嘅囡囡，有一個咁好嘅 爸爸/媽媽 !!

絕對冇問題；雖然已經有家長 (濤兒) 同大家分享，不過我都會借呢個機會，分享一吓自己嘅意見：

唔會 (數量不多，暫時嚟計，平均每日都只係3~4樣；會否做到好夜，就好睇小朋友及家長要求)；不過網上練習亦不少，中文兩個、英文數學各一個，唔係強迫要做 (數學除外) !! Btw，囡囡曾因請假數天，需要在 weekend 2日之內，一次過補做回廿多樣功課，所以估計喺短期內，相信都唔會有功課多嘅感覺 !!
另一我好擔心的事, 想請教, spcc 的考試, 會唔會考好多課外野, 即係話跟足書本讀晒, 都未必考到好成績.
我收到嘅資訊：係，但係唔代表唔需要溫書；另外，睇圖書好緊要，尤其是作文 !!
請問 spcc 一年幾多測幾多考, 係唔係次次都計分?
"濤兒"都講得好清楚；不過想補充一點，雖然小一上學期沒有正式嘅評估、考試甚至默書，但係非正式 (沒有通知嘅情況) 嘅測驗、默書係有嘅，英文幾乎每日都有 spelling，隨時都會有"識字遊戲"或"學測驗" !! 評估、考試週期，小一至小五大致上都差唔多，小六則略有不同。
最後, 想請問, spcc 多唔多課外活動
要小朋友參加, 一般一個禮拜要留校幾呢?
"濤兒"都講得好清楚；囡囡到目前為止，兩個課外活動都唔需要留校 !! （補充一點，每位小朋友都需要學多一樣樂器，鋼琴不可計算在內)
* 話口未完，今日整夠7份功課，不過因為唔難做，囡囡用咗一個鐘頭多少少，就可以完成哂 !!

Thank you very much for all your sharing, especially those related to school life at SPCC. My daughter also gets an offer from SPCC and she is going to join this family next year. Though feeling happy and proud of her, still have some worries about the workload (as I am a working mom of 2 kids). After reading all your sharing, I feel much relieved.
Btw, as we live in the Kowloon side, could the existing parents advise where I can find the school bus route and timing information? We want to plan ahead.
Again, thanks a lot for all your sharing and advice.
