Next Monday, discretionary places admission result will be announced. Per last year's statistics,

MCS - around 80 seats
St Mary's - around 64 seats
St Stephen's - around 53 seats
Marymount - around 64 seats

Hopefully parents who got offer from the above top 10 schools will release GH seats for us who are on waiting la!

間間都各有特色,if accepted, it really dont know how to chose??

My girl was admitted to GT College (優才書院), and we are still waiting to hear from CKY. She is also on GH waiting list.

我的小朋友上年Lower班時是王老師作班主任的,我的囡囡都收到SPCC的offer! 我好想把這份喜悅告訴王老師!!

I am the alumna for SHCS, non- catholic.
But when I registered for P1 Discretionary Place, we were required to fill in the name of the kindergarten.  I think the school could have select candidates referring to this.

For SPCC, the competition was really keen, I think preparing a good portfolio is rather important.
My daughter attained grade 2 in violin when she was 4.

Though some parents claimed that their kids has no particular strength(e.g. in sports, speech or music), having a strength would let the kid feel more confident of himself/herself.  And it's always an advantage for such competitions.

In the interview of SPCC, Ms Lee agreed that concentration, perseverance and team spirit could be trained through participating in ECA (rather than classroom learning).

For us, we joined yips for 6 months at about 3 years old, they will teach the kids basic notes+rhythm recognization.

We started violin playing at 3.5 years old. I was the one teaching my kid. I think it's very important to sing(in tune) from a very young age(say, 1 or 2 years old). From singing, they will recognize intonation(pitch), rhythm, diction(correct pronounciation of words) and develope their voice range and listening skill at an early stage. The listening skill had not only enhanced her musical sense but also language development.

select music with good quality for your kid and start singing now =)

Cellojoyce, thanks for your sharing. I have just visited here. Can I ask you that yours is a big or small gal?
Mine is super small boy (dec of 2007) and he is now studying K1. It seems that he loves music and singing and I intend to let him have the musical instrucment learning starting at 3.5 - 4 years. But I think he will not get any beneficial as he will be still small when apply P1 (4yr and 9 months old)
So, is it good for me to let him repeat and to be a big boy for interviewing P1?

I'm very impressed by the way you teach your daughter on violin. No wonder my son's piano teacher asked him to sing along while playing. She said that can improve his expression and musical performance.

Thank you very much.
Sometimes children were hindered by their technical disabilities in playing the musical instruments. Singing it out would help a lot.
I know, because I work in the music education field.
Your child needs you to work with them.
