It seems TSL has the most applicants each year. What is the no. this year?

Is it true that TSL did not receive school report and portfolio with the application form? Only evalution of interview performance?

If so, can I say that the successful students are the most brilliant (at least during the interview) because other famous schools e.g. DBS / DGS's evaluation will be affected by what you put in the portfolio ?

It depends on how you define what is the "brightest"...

I know a very bright girl (polite, make sense, non-mechanical, bilingual, and good at readings and maths, early bloomer) has been rejected by TSL, but accepted by DGS, Kowloon Tong Primary and St Paul Co-ed as well as CKY

No. of applications does not mean the school is "excellent", it can be a PR strategy as they use web application, more easier for people to appy...

When you go to their open days and seminars and talk to the kids and teachers in various schools, you will know more about their teachers and about their students...

Also the % of band 1 students are not very high when compare with other schools of similar level..

It seems that you mean TSL is not that good...??? Can you tell us more? Their P.6 results show that many go into Band 1 English secondary school, why you said their band 1 % is not that high?

Hi, motherotk, I am not saying TSL is the best, I mean that the successful kids accepted by TSL has the best performance in interview because their acceptance was not depended on portfolio but merely interview performance.

Your example of 'bright' girl may be talented in many aspects, but no good performance in interview becasue she was not accepted by TSL. That's my point and view.

TSL is fair for all kid.
TSL seat is opened for good ability & interview result.
Some kids come from Base Layer (study in estate local KG, use cantonese as main language), not middle layer, not study famous KG.
It is because of many middle family, they provide and arrange many ECA for kid and prepared beautiful portfiolo.
It is unfair for poor or not rich family.

I don't think those kids selected by TSL are the most brilliant. However, I think TSL is among the fairer in terms of selection process.

I think TSL is almost the fair interiew system among all in terms of different testing. They had eng listening test (tiger drawing ), acdamic test ( chin and eng sentense building and matching ), find difference, oral test, IQ test (bottle of marbles and water ), english reponse also ...etc I remember they need to submitte the lastest school report, just no need portfolio. May be they just trust their eyes..and school track record

SMC also need to test 5 things at the first interview ( fair enough) even I had rejected

GH only simple drawing and Q&A..

Mainly English with some Cantonese. No Mandarin.
