1st interview should have finished by yesterday.

According to an earlier phone enquiry to the school, candidates selected for 2nd interview are notified at random, i.e. related and Christian categories are not necessarily interviewed first.

It would be nice if the BK parents can share their findings after calling the school.

Thank you for your good wishes! Your contribution is a great help to parents who applied for SPCCPS.

My wife and I often compliment our son for doing his very best in the 1st interview at SPCCPS, and we could already feel it when he came out of the interview venue. Whether his best is good enough for the school remains to be seen; for us, he has surpassed his performance in the past, and we are really proud of him.

BTW, my wife has asked me not to open letters from any school because all school letters I have opened so far were rejections. :( "Don't touch the letters with your 'stinky hands'!" she demanded.

I wonder how much time the headmistress will need to "review 1st int results".

I forgot to bring my mobile phone today and I don't think my son was tops in his performance and background, so (Ah Q spirit) even if he has a chance for 2nd interview, we will not get a call so soon. Fellow parents, do you think I should be nervous about not having my mobile phone with me?

Don't worry about it... you can check the record of calls received today after u go back home. As mentioned in some posts, just see if some calls with '2555xxxx' has been called in....

Better ask her to type **62*<phone number> +call button on my mobile phone to divert my line to my wife's even though she has to work too.

BTW, will you inform us immediately once you receive the 2nd interview call from the school? Such info is critical for parents, you know.

Thanks. I am not really worried, but during this nervous period, we need to balance our mind with some jokes and Ah Q spirit. :D

As I said in another thread, worrying won't increase our chances, so let's do some more constructive things and have some fun with our children instead. E.g. my son had another interview yesterday afternoon and we played his favourite games in the morning to boost his spirit. It seems that our effort paid off;we were excited enough to do some planning on his forthcoming birthday party afterwards, taking his excitement to the climax. :)

Don't worry if you forgot to bring your mobile today. The application had your & your wife contact nos. I'm sure that school will call both nos. if one no body answer.....

I also don't think the school will start to make 2nd in call today. Let's wait on tomorrow la.

If you had read previous posts of another SPCC thread, you would know:

1. The first digit represents the category your child belongs to.  "4" means you are unrelated and non-Christian.

2. The 2nd digit onwards represent the number of applicants in this category.

Accordingly, your application number means your application is the 5xx-th (probably using the sequential order of application form submission) among the applicants of the non-related, non-Christian category.

No. of applicants should be around 2,500 or so.  I have never asked the school for such information.

Remember they reserve "no more than 70%" of places to related applicants. Even assuming a lower percentage of 50% (which is the lowest possible percentage according to past experience), the number of available places for non-related applicants would be 100 out of (say) 2,000.

Now, do you think the chance is minimal, or negligible? :D

校長都有講過，唔一定係 "7、3 比"：

道聽途說，舊年最後係 "6、4 比"，即沒有關係者比正常嘅比例多了，而男女嘅比例，由 75、75，變成 80、70，女生嘅比率下降 !!

I plan to give in to my wife's demand.  Nothing is more important than having a favourable response; not opening letters for me is trivial compared to it.

Although I choose not to tell my son about rejections, I once asked him, "Will you be sad if any school rejects you?", and he answered, "Yes, I will."  This confirms our approach of not telling him about rejections at this stage.

He said he enjoyed all the 10 first interviews for 8 schools except one (DBS).  I think it is a blessing for us already.

"mimame" was asking about "2nd interview" candidates, so I tried to be consistent with her question.

Our "internal" (inside the house) calculation is based on 150 as well. 2nd int is just an interim result; a place in the school is the target end result. :D

I really don't think the school will deduct mark based on the kinder name...they only concern the kids ability & personality.

"仲以為大女機會高啲", I also has same feeling before took all 1st interview.......coz my daughter born in early Jan.....however, received the 1st reject letter....then I woke up and facing the reality....

Anyway, good luck to you & all bk parents...

Another day to start and wait call no.: 2555 xxxx again.

Check last year 2nd int. discussion on....... 28/10/2009, only one bk mami (group B) received 2nd in call.......

Most 2nd int call would called out on 29/10/2009....so, may need to wait one more day la.....

Actually one of my friend's friend's also rec'd phone call late after yesterday, and they are probably in Group 1 as the kid's brother is presently studying at SPCC.

Actually one of my friend's friend's also rec'd phone call late after yesterday, and they are probably in Group 1 as the kid's brother is presently studying at SPCC.

.... none of my friend receive any call from SPCC, all are non-related (not group 1) ....

I brought myself to the reality that the chance for 2nd interview is impossible for my kid la; 200/2300, if 140 is allocated for those related then the remaining will be 60/1600 (assume one third is from related) then it will be 6/160 which is too slim. Did she performed that well to be the top of 160 kids? Seems impossible.

I am feeling a bit better.

My friend interviewed on Sep. 25, also received the call and will interview on next Monday early morning. Also related.
