OK. Someone corrected you. What you thought was right was actually not quite right. So what? I have been corrected by other people too. I was more than happy to have someone pointed out my misunderstanding.
We are not here to argue. There is no need to answer in unfriendly tone.
Very disappointed. And I will no longer help anyone that ask for help or information.

U may give your opinion, share your experience and give your advice but do not act as an authority to tell someone is wrong and jump to the conclusion that your experience or point of view is the ultimate answer, even if you are an IB professional.
There are only 5 schools providing MYP in HK and the first MYP in HK (CIS) was approved in 2004, which was 6 years ago (MYP last for 5 years). How experience and professional a parent or even an IB official could be on such topic?
All discussion on this topic was based on very limited data and exp. in mapping HK and IB curriculum.

We pick IB not necessary the school run the program for years. We can take international IB college as reference.
My son's school even the first year to run IBDP, it doesn't matter. I learn, I ask questions, do research, summarise and take action.
Personally, I won't take MYP seriously, IBDP is the ultimate objective. In HK, two DSS schools don't have MYP, Grade 10 as Pre-IB and then IBDP. We need to accept new things, new ideas...
I am not IB professional, but a parent like to do research and learn to be open-minded.

Thanks for sharing.
The primary reason we picked IB for our kids was because we liked what was written in the IB learner profile. We want our kids to be educated with a set of values stated in the IB learner profile, not because DP can get our kids into the top universities.
We do beleive a 11 years of education under PYP and MYP is important to nourish our kids with the correct set of values and attitude which would accompany them for the rest of their lives. No matter which U they will be studying in eventually.

I know many parents send their kids to some claimed IB approach schools in HK, they also firm believers of IB profile. You think it's a curricullum, yes it is. Is it fit all kids? I doubt it. Not every kids fit in IB.
If you are interested in my sharings on IB, you can go to senior high sub-forum in BK, like NSS vs IB.
I read through most of your posts, your question related to MYP and year of learning, I don't think anyone can answer your question on behalf of IBO. You can address your questions to IBO and share with us for your findings. If you are interested in the accreditation, you can go to UCAS and see the procedure like IB or HKDSE seek for equivlent with GCE ALs. If you are interested in US system, you can search for that (Sorry, my focus more on UK).
The career and education advisor in your daughter's school definitely can help. My son's case is he needs to sit for SAT + IBDP for Ivy League; the advisor told me that, SAT is the basic requirement as high school qualification and IBDP similar to AP, more advance and may have credits in relevant subjects.
