Hi Ian,

My daughter was born on Jan 7, 2009.
Will she be qualified for admissions to K1 2011-12
at Sacred Heart Canossian Kindergarten ?
I called the kindergarten two days ago.
The staff said an applicant will be qualified for K1 2011-12 admissions if her age reaches 2 year 8 month old on or before Sept 1, 2011.
According to this statement, my daughter is 6 days younger.
Pls kindly advise. Tks.

Hi peterkwchiu,

I am sorry but you daughter should wait for the year 2012-13 for K1 application in most local kindergartens. It is not specific only to Sacred Heart.

Basically, this follows the regulation of EDB for P1 applications, where children applying for P1 for a particular year should reach the age of 5 years old and 8 months by Sep.1. So, if you push this 3 years earlier to K1 application, then you will understand how this age range originated from.

Thanks for your prompt clarification.
That's ok.
I will send her to N1 in the coming year,
and then apply for K1 in the year after next.
