我個囝剛做完評估, 結果係資優小朋友.

有朋友提議我幫個囝轉校 (佢今年讀三年級)...

大家資優家長有冇轉校的諗法?

其實你要睇番個小朋友係邊方面資優, 同埋點解你會想轉校? 我個仔都係資優在數學178及語言165最高分, 但我麵無幫佢轉校.
因為IQ到, 人格發展未必同步, 所以如果想幫佢轉校跳班, 真係未必需要.

因為我個囝現在讀普通屋村小學, 朋友認為可以嘗試一些程度高d 的小學(e.g. 直資學校).

想問下:

你個仔係資優在數學178及語言165最高分 ---> 好高分啊!!! 其實IQ 有無最高分呢?

My son also checked by a Psychologist, and confimed is a gifted, he transferred to a better school this year but no jump, I hope the new school will more accept and understand the gifted child.
May I as a question about 數學 & 語言 IQ score? the IQ test should only have Performance IQ and Verbal IQ by "Wai". May I know what kind of IQ test you did?

Anyway, I don't mind to answer you about your question here, some of schools accept him as a transferred P2 student this year e.g. SFA. They mainly are emphasize on Gifted child, we finally choose Ying Wa Primary.

All depends on the support and experience of the current school on gifted kids.

My son has IQ130+ when he was 7yr10mon old. We struggled for some time and we decided to keep him in a good Christian school. We also took the Principal's advice to keep him in the normal pace and don’t slip grades, but find more challenging programs to stretch him in Maths, English and other areas.

The result is his EQ also improved, good social relationship with peers, not just academically sound but also enjoy sports and music.

In the school, they use "High Learning Ability Student 高學習能力" instead of Gifted Child. Teachers will identify some HLA students and will group them in a Creative Group 創思小組.

The group takes in P3 students and some exceptional case will also offer the same program up to P6.

The Group focused on three areas:
1. Creativity and Thinking skills 創意思維;
2. Socialization skills 社交訓練; and
3. Affective training 情意發展 .

The principal promotes more on multiple intelligence and not recommend to skip years or drilling on specific talents like Maths or other skills.

They also recommend students to join some gifted programs provided by Education Bureau at Fung Hon Chue.

I highly recommend you to discuss with Principal about your kid before making the final decision.

The school I mentioned is one of the best school in Eastern District, so if you are in HK Island, you know the school name.

Low profile, local Christian school, small campus.

My son also has over IQ130 but he don't like writing, so his performance is not good, his school is in Eastern District, I want to change another school, good for gifted child,but i don't know, would you please let me know.

My son had the similar problem in P1, after consulting psychologist and referred an occupational therapist to us, we discovered he couldn't manage the little muscle too well, so everytime he wrote it's a torture on him. From our eye, he was lazy and he told us that he felt painful during writing, we disregarded his complaints, until the psycholigist told us the problem.

After using a pencil holder and some useful practise on writing and strengthen his small muscles. He enjoys studying more. If not, how can he handle 6 hours examination time in HKDSE etc?

Look at his writing on the exercise book, then turn over a few pages, you still can see the writing very clearly over many pages, it's an indication he writes too hard, very easy feel tired and painful in writing.

I will pm the name to you, but may not help him at this stage. Dig out the problem why he doesn't enjoy studying is the primary focus?

But it's in Net 14, Island East. If you are not live at HK Island, it doesn't help.
