hello, my son is in RC year 1. I think simply rely on the school to develop their chinese language is surely not enough. I give my son chinese writing exercise to do on a daily basis, I can foresee my son will not be able to read Chinese newspaper if I don't spend extra effort and resources in developing his Chinese outside school.

Dear All

Thank you for the info. My son finally is distributed to CNL.

One more thing to share, i have sent Mr. Mulla a email regarding to student's physical displaying affection at school.  This is Mr. Mullar reply:

I am thrilled that your son has settled into RCHK and we look forward to watching him develop.

Answers to your questions:

1. We do not encourage students to demonstrate overt physical affection - whilst kissing and hugging does not inflict pain, we do deem it inappropriate and do take steps to both monitor and alter such behaviour. I shall mention your observation to my secondary counterpart so that through the Advisory system, this can be addressed. I would also suggest that as a parent of our community you can politely ask students to refrain from kissing. If you ask for their names we can also follow up.

2. Drug education is an important part of the secondary school Personal and Social Education programme. Schools by themselves cannot prevent drug abuse, but we can alert students to the inherent dangers and make them aware that the choices they make in life can have significant, and in some cases, lasting effects. In the primary we do not have a strong focus on drug education as such,  (though in Year 6 elements are focused upon),  rather, we focus on healthy living and good choices that lead to living healthier lives, especially in relation to what we eat and how we exercise.

Should you wish to discuss these points further please make a time to meet with me by calling Louisa Au 35563308.

Kind regards
