Hi Myjasmine

I let my Son try RC coz of it's IB school and "one Dragon" But on the other side i still want to keep my child's Chinese standard at certain level. These days i ask my child what does he do at school. He tell there are nothing much to do, only drawing, painting and read story books. So I guess the proper classes are not started yet. He also tells that everyone are quiet during class time and no Naughty boy or girl there.

i am wondering do they have Class parent this year? coz my son said there are only the teacher and the assistant at the class.

No need to worry too much.  I think it is just the very beginning of their primary school life and formal school has not started yet.  They should have Art, P.E., Chinese and Music classes etc. later on.

About Chinese standard, never expect too much from the school and do not rely solely on the school, afterall, this is an international school.  I think we parents should do something if we concern about the Chinese level.  As far as i know, RC's Chinese level is not bad among IS.

My daughter also aid there are no naughty classmates in class...haha...Mrs. Faire is so lucky!

i think we will learn more about their class @ the  information night tomorrow.

Sorry for my interruption.
Strongly encourage Year 1 parents communicating with class teacher by email.
Teachers will be more than happy by giving you an instant reply.
Sometimes, the instructions is not so clear and u may be confused if not keep asking.
Enjoy your school life with your Year 1 children in RC!

We will also have PE lesson tomorrow and our teacher said we should wear PE uniform then.

We noted last night that the timetables for each class are quite not the same. Seems that they named the lessons differently for each class. For our class, we have Maths, writing etc. But for another class, they do not have classes named like/similar to that. On the other hand, they have assembly and meeting int eh time table but we do not have the same.

I got the similar timetable with you, classes included Journal writing, Maths, Litracy, Art, Music, Chinese everyday. But I do not understand what is "studio time".

Studio Time is the time when all year 1 kids will play and interact with each other. They can freely choose what they are offered to do and play. Kids will sure enjoy it very much.

In our timetable, we do not have Journal Writing and Litercy. But we have Oral language, Centres, Shared story UOI and Buddy Time.

Thanks for you information. We do not have centres & Oral language lesson. In PTH, my daughter already did grouping in their class. How about your child ?

If they split into diff. group, how about their circumlum whether same or not ?

Jasmine aslo enjoys school so much and she said all her classmates are good and behaved.

Jasmine will have her full day next Tue. Hope both our kids will settle well :)

Heard from Jasmine that the Chinese teacher starts to teach the kids in groups and she said she is in Group A. Dunno if the contents or level is really different.

Hi, nice seeing you here. Charlotte and Jasmine are good friends from WKS and we met before in birthday party and at school as well. Jasmine is so happy that she can be in the same class as Charlotte.

Same case here. Jasmine's schoolbus also arrived home late for 30 mins everyday. However, i hope it is the problem at the beginning of the school year only and hope this can be solved soon.

I just received a call yesterday evening from RC to offer a place for my son. I say yes at once and I go to school today morning (1.9.2010) to complete the admission procedure. I note that the school start from 19.8.2010 so my son skip many things. I am still don't know which class he will be.

Btw, i attended the meeting with Mrs. Faire today, whichever it's school environment or teachers all are good.

Jason also likes going to the new school. This morning I brought him to school myself. He now knows the routine very well. One thing not so good about Jason is that he doesn't share with me what he did at school. By the way, I guess all parents got a brochure about the drama class from Acting Antics about 2 weeks ago. I enrolled Jason and I attended the first lesson with him, it is very well organized and it helps develop children's confidence, I strongly recommend this course to all RC year one parents.

Actually, I ask Ivan about his school life everyday and he likes to share with Us.

I think their rates are quite reasonable.

Right now there are just 5 students including my son. Well for such a good course, I would like more parents to know about it. This way they can keep the course running, it would be sad if they discontinue the course due to small number of students. Do hope more kids can join my son's class on Saturday morning.

Yes, my daughter is Angela. Your son was in Elephant C in Boxhill before ? Angela was in Element A. You can find her in the school magazine :D I think there should be lot of chances that we'll meet in RCHK.

Finding extra-curricula activities with suitable schedule is really headache. Deborah of Antics replied me that they're thinking about opening another Musical Drama class somewhere in Shatin, but they need a minimum of 6 students. I'm looking forward to this. Hope those parents who are interested in this will send her an email [email protected]
