I think one of the major factors is where you live. If you live in Kowloon side, choose MS. If you live in HK side, choose TL.

Not take into account of travelling time, if for girl, TL may be a better choice.

睇你介唔介意英文la,我有個朋友個囡囡今年在真光讀完K1,佢有D唔開心咁講佢個囡囡依家只係識A-G, 所有野都在學校做左,所以無家課,不過我覺得朋友都有責任教個囡囡咯,又或者可能真光K1想小朋友愛上上學先,到K2先會深d...
所以K1家長想仔女學多D野,相信要自己放多時間教仔女...
不過D老師真係好有愛心嫁,聽講...
我個人既選擇係民生(a.m.)而放棄真光(a.m.)...

I live in TKO, so TL or MS are more or less the same. TL called us in sudden, and need to register fast. I don't want to hold the seat if I am not going to study there, but I am so afraid I will make a wrong decision.... very frustrated!!
Saiwai, 校風好,學生純樸 you mean primary or secondary? Any other good things you love?
sllau, your child will be in MS K1 this year? So will your friend in TL change to another school? Do you think MS is better in academic? I know MS has several NET teachers, but not sure how many english class do they have every week. How about PTH? The teacher did not answer me last time.
If I also consider primary, which one is better? My elder daughter will study in RC primary this year. I am not sure if my younger daughter can get in or not. I don't have confidence.....as my younger one is very shy and not talkative...

其實我都係住你附近過東隧好快,我老公親身去學校見過讀TL的中學生感覺好純樸,而我open day亦見義工家長他們都說小朋友很喜愛返學,而所有學生可以直上小學,我都識一位TL家長說這校的家長都好純樸,不會像一些名校家長都好物質及花招枝展,TL英文程度係較淺我都會找一些英語課程給女女,而MS我都有考但正選冇收,而我亦沒有回覆作後備生這信,在我住這邊都有好多小朋讀MS,據我所知MS的程度亦不算深,另如果出來考小學並沒有優勢,但上到MS小學就會很谷,追不上的話會要求留班或轉校,因為不想學生拉底學校成績,所以各種因素的比較我和老公會揀TL

民生一星期有3堂NET 教英文, 2堂國語, 做到兩文三語。 在民生forum見到啲媽咪話啲NET老師教得好, 本地老師亦關心學生。 民生一樣出名校風好和學生純樸, 另外校園大和多課外活動。 我亦選擇了民生而放棄了其他所謂名幼稚園。

I will choose 民生am, since kid study at am class is better. PM time can has a nap and learn other things.

其實我楝前真係諗左一排ga...好彩兩間學校我識人讀,所以問清楚後,再按自己既要求同小朋友性格去揀...
真光,我識人正在讀幼稚園, 小學,有同事係真光中學既舊生和有同事在中學教過書添...
佢地既評語都係好既, 校風好,多數女仔都聽話的....
幼稚園個用家既評語,我講左la.... 唔講la...
小學個用家係今年升小二,朋友都係略嫌無乜功課,其他都滿意...
中學舊生既評論都如果你唔係小朋友去到最top個群,真光係好選擇,d學生多數比較踏實,聽話...但係真光小學叻既小朋友多數去左其他更好學校...
民生,我識人正在讀幼稚園,小學咋....
幼稚園好似話換左個以前在某名幼稚園既校長,好似話對英文要求高左,校風好, k1會活d, k2就來料啦...如果小朋友唔係有好大問題,民小通常收返民幼學生...
小學個朋友,小朋友今年升讀小三, 佢原本想同個仔仔讀完小一後轉去其他學校重讀,因為佢覺得仔仔係超細b(29/12), 身體一般,同埋學業成績都係一般...當年佢考培正, 聖瑪加利英文中小學都收,但係最終留在民生升小二,因為佢個仔仔流住眼淚同佢講: 媽咪我唔想去其他學校留班, 同埋我好鐘意民生書院喎,我好唔拾得d同學同老師...小學都好谷下喎......
在我來講讀是但讀一間一樣,我揀民生因為我以前住學校附近,比印象好好, 男女校(我想囡囡學下同異性相處, 如果囡囡讀得好好,叻既,我好大機會在升中時考d再好既女校), 基督教, 校風好,校舍大,有冇得大抽獎對我來講唔重要,總有最緊要係安排到校車返學, 如果揀真光就真係要搬屋...

這些資料只是以作參巧,睇完後知多樣野冇壞,好似睇報紙一樣睇完都唔係一定要信哂佢,其實我自己覺sallu的意見好正面,每位小朋友都有適合他的kg,正如其他話題中培正的英文水平,因為每個人都有自己的要求,培正係中中但如果佢收我個女我一定會放棄其他kg去入讀,我亦不是睇底MS每人都希望給予小朋友取好的學習還境,只是我覺得TL係我地杯茶,因為TL可以給小朋友參加大抽獎,如抽得不好亦可留底,而兩文三語現在很多學校都做得很好,就算覺得不夠自己出去學都冇問題,其實揀得MS or TL都係想直升所以並不是3年間的事,當然如小朋友天資聰敏可以出去考更好的小學&中學,希望樓主可以選到最適合你小朋友的kg,但唔好諗太耐,因為今年競爭好大現在還有些家長在等候

我依家好矛盾呀....傳統有傳統既好,新教學方法有新既好,但係又驚囡囡會變白老鼠....
所以,都係睇定先啦,唔使禁快局限某條出路....BE FLEXABLE!!!
好多朋友都問我會唔會比囡囡去考一線小學,我答都係呢刻係唔會,但係將來我唔包,要睇我囡囡既發展,佢係唔係讀書才料都未知呀!!入到名校唔代表我個囡囡一定得,佢可能應付唔到ga, 所以呢一刻我都係揾一間有宗教背景既好學校先, 幾年後佢真係一個叻女的話,先考慮考其他更好學校,但係一定唔係富貴學校,因為我唔係富貴人呀!
大抽獎實在太刺激啦,我玩唔起呀!今年我有兩個朋友既囡囡結果,可以話係天堂與地獄...佢地不約而同地千方百計到41校網進行大抽獎...
朋友A同個囡囡幾乎考全港直資同私校,結果得一間私校收, 大抽獎係第9志願, 好彩有間私校頂住...
朋友B本身係一間私校教小學,收硬佢囡囡,總要教職員子弟入讀係唔使錢添,所以佢無去考任何直資同私校, 只係參加大抽獎..結果...登登登.....瑪利諾....
講付出朋友A付出多好好好多, 但係佢欠咩.....只係運氣lor...

其實大家想法都一樣,一線的小學現在都未知女女發展怎樣,如果係ok一定會出去考,唔得亦可以留底.....進可攻,退可守,所以和你一樣揀校風及宗教背景好的學校(基督教),而德育亦是不可忽視的,傳統的真係有佢地的好處,但一年考試測驗噤多次諗起都想叫救命

Hi chloecadence,
I also chose MS and gave up Tsung Tsin & Good Hope because of band 1, voucher, co-edu, big campus, variety of activities, religion, ...........Every school has its advantages and quite difficult to compare with others. In view of my situation, I will choose the one suited for my family.
As well it is nice that we can be classmates.

Yes, my girl will be in K1am this Sept, maybe classmates! Actually I also prefer co-ed kindergarten, it worries me when I see so many Tom boys and lesbian in the street. Can you share your experience about your elder daughter? I also worry that the P1 competition will be very tough so I chose a 1/2 dragon KG.

I think it is very though for primary 1 application even this year....I applied many schools including traditional & not traditional. From creating portfolio, application, interview, waiting and registration...it can be very frustrating. Different schools may have different interview style, format and requirements...which part or any school do you want to know?
My little one will be in K1D, how about yours? Can they be classmates?

上星期我都係掙扎0左一陣,
我面對0既選擇係民生同另一間冇得直上0既,
我老公主張有得直上(雖然唔係包保一定得);
另一間雖然係我本人好鍾意, 口碑亦冇得彈,
但三年後又要搵小學,
最後我集合0左各方0既意見, 揀0左民生.
其實作為父母, 當然係想為子女舖一條最好0既路啦,
大家0既心都係咁, 好驚揀錯,
好想有人話俾我知點揀係最好.
無論揀邊一間, 都希望大家0既小朋友開心快樂!

My girl will be in K1D too! Have you made up your mind yet? If you choose MS, our kids will be in the same class!
I just want to know how tough it is to apply for primary schools as I may try to apply in 3 years time. I know there are over 3000 applications for Chan Sau Yan this year and none of my friends' children got an offer from this school. Do you mind to tell me how many schools you applied and how many offers you received?

We applied for 10 schools, have RC & GT offers and Good Hope waiting. We choose RC finally. We did not go to TSL interview as it crashed the schedule of another one.
