係呀！成本書得4頁呀囝話讀左兩頁就ok，等見校長時其它家長幫小朋友熟讀圖書，我見好多人本書成寸厚背到好熟，校長不是要收死讀書學生。

其實咩書都無所謂，至緊要係阿仔平時真係有睇開。切忌買本全新書，因為林校長主要是睇下仔仔平時有無閱讀習慣，所以無論中英都可以，至緊要流暢有heart! 同埋除咗諗書/講故仔外，小朋友重要有D任務要做，小心聽住林校長嘅指令，唔好爭 !! 只要任務正確完成就得。記住期間校長的問題、房內的擺設及在塲人士，因為當進入最後300強(Final Interview)林校長會問番仔仔。詳細暫時唔講住，入咗Final再問。

I think the prepration should be started since the kid was in K1, especially building up a good relation with the family, reading habit, learning everyday events and news......

I'm also a father and it's good to see so many daddies on BK. I always think kids are blessed if their daddies like to get involved (but not in the "helicopter" manner :)).

I met a friendly father and his family (including his son) who went to YW for registration just before noon today. We exchanged our children's names and I really hope I can keep in touch with this type of parents.

He might be one of the BK parents...hehehe

小一適應班一般都安排響臨開學前果個禮拜既,冇記錯就係半日既啫.會有集會,然後分班上課室,大家認識下,學下規舉,學下排隊之類啦.因為排隊都分3種隊,佢地要唔好攪錯,咪搭校車既跟左家長接既隊,就好麻煩啦.

恭喜咁多位, 仔仔可以入到理想學校!!

其實我大仔宜家k1, 不過我好鐘意校長既教學方式 (不知跟電視中是否一樣?)
都知勁難入, 所以想了解多點 interview 會問d 乜, 等我可以好好準備下, 因我知有3 round, 但頭2 round 係點, 係咪第3round 先in 家長? thanks all !!

1:每組12至14名學生在課室中玩耍,教師會與學生聊天,繪畫等,佔分50％。
2:5人一組與校長聊天,另學生需攜中、英文圖書各一本。選擇中或者英文來閱讀給校長聽,與校長見面佔分50％。
3:比對校長及老師評分後,挑選約350人作最後一輪面試,校長會同時接見家長及學生,從中挑選約150-160人成為英華學生。

我所知大約都好似喺預留一班比舊生同有哥哥在讀,但唔一定所有old boy都有機會入讀,佢哋也需要過第2 round同最後一關家長和囝囝一同見校長,最重要是好好培養孩子各方面發展,日後便有把握考取心儀小學。

其實宜家亞仔都學緊好多野, 但好似冇樣野叻咁...不過所有學既野全部都係佢自己話要學...所以我地宜家有能力就比佢學...

In the 3 days of orientation (not remember whether it is 2 or 3 hrs long but less than half day), our kids firstly went to hall and Mrs. Lam played some instruction games with them first and they would all enjoy the games very much. Then, all boys went to the classroom. Perhaps the teachers would guide them to some place such as library and etc. Then, they would organize some group games for the class.

No preparation from the parents but the boys enjoyed the orientation days very much.

It's not specified. I trust most parents will attend together unless one of them cannot really make it.

Excuse me if I have misunderstood the original question.

I trust the school has expectation. At the same time, I was not aware of school specified rigidly that both parents must attend the interview together. Those parents who cannot attend together with good reason can/should communicate with the school instead of giving up the interview.

I think it is not a must to attend together if really can't make it, I had gone to interview with my child only in the last session, my wife couldn't have leave. Of course, it is the best to go by parents, right?

anyway, If parents like reading, they like reading also. so, buy more 中英文故事書 for them.

其實好簡單, 你去問一下林校長拒點擇學生. 除左林校長冇人可以答你這問題.

We did not equip our son with skills just for having a place in Ying Wa.  They are for his development and benefit as a whole.

You should not twist your son to suit Ying Wa or any particular school; instead, you should seek schools best suited to your son, based on his talents, personality, strengths, etc.  This will greatly enhance the effectiveness of education in the school.

We let our son take part in the following activities (not all at the same time and some are just for a few months), after consulting his opinion in every case:

1. Piano
2. Choir
3. Musical theatre
4. Table tennis
5. Swimming
6. Football
7. KwikMaths (addition and subtraction)
8. Letterland phonics
9. Chinese words recognition
10. Drawing (briefly)

In addition, my son took part in some performances on #2 and #3 above, a few competitions for speech (English and Cantonese) and Maths, and the Cambridge Starters English exam.

My advice is to you is:

1. Don't force your child to attend classes he doesn't like.  It may affect his interest in learning as a whole.

2. Let your son participate in deciding which activities to attend.

3. Try to strike a balance of different types of activities.

4. Don't stuff your son with too many activities.  Give him some time to play games or toys he likes. If he is often tired after attending these classes, you can imagine how much he can learn.

Agree with Thomasha. Don't try to equip your son to suit particular school. There is also some kind of luck for each interview.

I think YW does not choose boys basing on the activities they attended. Try to let your son participate in activites happily and let him have a balanced development. Good parent-child relationship is also important.
