Who has joined British Council's 英文班 (K1/2/3)before? I wanna know more about the topics for each semester/ session? :) Any story reading or writing tasks during the class? Thanks a lot!!!

外籍老師 not guaranteed, depends on luck, my kid has attended the K1 course (first semester only), the teacher is a nice English speaking Chinese lady (maybe brought up overseas, but she can speak Cantonese). For K1, they have different theme per week, and the theme will be brought out by songs, story telling, art and group activities. No writing in K1. My kid enjoyed the class, but we quited the course as the location is not convinient.

I expect the teachers are ABC/BBC. Another issue is the class size. I wonder whether the teacher takes turns to ask all the children one by one. Otherwise I am afraid some children will be relatively quiet during the class.
How about other centers such as Anfield/ESF/Tutortime? better? I wanna know ....

If I have not remembered wrongly, the class duration is 1.5 hours (90 minutes), and 12 children in one class (I am only talking about K1, I don't know other classes), if the teacher takes turn to ask children one by one, you can calculate how many minutes she can spend on each children : ) so, if you want more personal attention, you better look for other centres with better teacher to student ratio. If you are just looking for a playgroup conducted in English, it is not a bad choice. I think it all depends on your expectation. Frankly speaking, it does not meet my expectation, in term of NET, location and teacher ratio. But I must say my kid enjoys the class, she still remembers the teacher though we have quited for half a year.

Final note: there will be a Chinese assistant helping the teacher in K1 class. If you count this assistant in, then the ratio is 2: 12 students, not 1 to 12.

My two daughters attended the class for K.3 and P.1 for 2nd semester (Feb to July 2010) at YMT centre. As I see, all teacher are foreigner! There are total 16 students in one class. They need to buy a book and an activity book but I found 95% of the activity book (workbook) are blank,i.e. the school asked us to buy it but never/seldom ask them to do. It wastes my money. Honestly, it is not my cup of tea. I just think it is good for children when they are in kingergarten. It is like a playgroup. My children like to study there. But I think the traditional centre which teaches grammer is more suitable for my kids when they are in primary school. Therefore, my children will not further study at there.

The centre that my kid has attended is in Admiralty. I have called up the centre to ask if I enroll next time, can I choose the class taught by NET. The answer is NO as they don't know which teacher will be assigned to which class at the time of enrollment.

Actually, ABC is not bad as they know our culture more. And I think British Council has screened their quality before employment. It is just a personal perference, no discrimination, sorry!

k1 和k2 都係類似playgroup 的形式, 大約10幾個一班, k1 仲有個識講中文的assistant.

k1 主要是唱歌+做動作, art+craft, 好似有時會睇電視, 有free time比小朋友自已玩. 冇writing

k2 會有不同topics, 有story telling, art+craft, 好似有時會睇電視, 有free time比小朋友自已玩. 冇writing
