Thanks a lot for your sharing. So in other words, if we submitted the school bus registration before and not planned to purchase book now, there is no need to go to school in these 2 days?

I have called the school today about the bus route. There was a staff (Ms. Ng) just repeat and repeat that the parents could enquire about the new bus compnay's name and let the company know how many students, where do they get up and get off. No other information could be obtained.
To make me more more extremely angry is she could not clearly tell me what I could know more about the bus route, fee and get up & get off time. She just continue 打官腔 and showed impatient to my enquiry. At last she wanted to transfer my "HOT" enquiry to others. One more horrible thing she told me before passing the call to others is "every staff would has different informaiton". Is it true? why don't she clarify the information with others before answering my questions? Is it called helpful service? Luckily, she is just a staff of 校務處, not a teacher. I do hope those teachers do not possess such quality.

I only filled up the form, but, I cannot get any information, even for bus fee.
They said it didn't confirm yet.
But, they will inform us the details in mid August.

My kid rides the schoolbus too.
Every year in the past, there was fine-tuning of the many bus routes, to take into account the "new"comers' pickup and drop off locations, but the main route is largely the same.
For the "new" schoolbus company, I asked the bus company staff at the counter yesterday, they could only confirm that :
1. all the info of "old" students who ride the schoolbus has been passed on to them,
2. they will need to collect the info of all students who take the schoolbus before confirming the bus routes,
3. parents will be notified later.
4. bus fare has not been fixed but will be approx $$XX for YY route, and there will not be long/short months, those taking full bus service will need to pay the same bus fare for 10 months.
It is understandable that they need more time to collect info of all kids intending to take the schoolbus, before fixing the bus routes.
Pls have some patience, and wait for their reply.
In any case, the kids will be picked up at a time around 7:00 - 7:30 am, and return home within 1 hr for those living quite far away from school. To me that is not much difference anyway.
Just take everyting easy. Don't get too worked up about it.

i have called the bus company this morning and my 1st impression is that even they can't have any confirmed answer at this stage which i do understand, they are still willing to help. 
personally, i find the fare is a bit high.... 
but i was expected from some other parents' experience...
"it's more and less the same price as sharing a taxi with 4 other children.... "
(that's why i find it a bit high for me as i rarely take taxi myself... )...

Dear all,
No matter it’s the old or the new school bus company, they may not be able to tell us the
pick-up and drop-off time at this moment.
Normally, it will be around mid-August when everything is fixed on the number of stops, routes and timetable.
The school staff in the general office might not be able to answer such information to parents at this stage.
Parents can call the new school bus company for rough information for the time being.

what I said =/= promise by the new bus company.
It is just my approximation of the pickup / drop off times.

yup, people tend to confuse school staff with bus company staff.

You will find in due course that our school bus fare is not really v expensive. I learnt several yrs ago, that schoolbus fare for a famous school in Kln City for Whampoa Garden / school return, was ~HK$700. At that time, our return school bus fare was ~HK$490 return from Kln City / school.
Another calc : if I send my kid to school by bus + bus fare for maid, i.e. 2 times bus fare for kid + 4 times bus fare for maid each day, that is approx the same as schoolbus fare for my kid.
So my conclusion is, our schoolbus fare is acceptable.

The new schoolbus co did not quote exact $$ schoolbus fare, but quoted an approx figure which, for my route, is acceptable.
There must be some sort of contract with school / PLK specifying bus fares / routes, rough arrangement, so that new should be better than old, otherwise why was there such a change ? !
I'm usually optimistic about such things, save my brainpower for other more impt things like 
Really need the brainpower and energy for these 12 months !!

hey, dear parents,
i have a question... after i signed up for the school bus service....
i have noticed that there is a extra bus route at 4:45pm everyday...
i suppose that is for the pupils after eca.
i suddenly wonder if our son will have eca everyday or not and finally only take the school bus at 4:45pm almost everyday...
is it possible? any higher classes parents experience that with their hyper active child? 
should i consider this extra traveling fee in the monthly budget? :-|

As far as I know, there might be a chance for the new monthly fee to be slightly lower (depending on the routes) after the cancellation of the “long/short month” payment imposed by the old school bus company.
Did you call the new school bus company to find out the latest information about your route??

$1500 + for basic schoolbus ?
That's one of the reasons why I prefer living somewhere near the city.
Pros cheaper transport costs (altho still quite high by my standards)
Con worse pollution.
Will move to the suburbs for my retirement.

that's actually what i'm thinking....
because the single trip is only 80% the round trip... so not much saving.
as the school start early, i may able to bring our son to school in the morning. (just have to make myself awake 1/2 hour earlier..... 
)
and he stays at school until 4:45pm for the extra bus to back home everyday. since he is very into all kind of sports and interest group of ECA. most likely he will take the extra school bus 3 to 4 time per week.... which make the return school bus somehow unnecessary..... (to be honest... the extra school bus will be actually even a bit cheaper than the 50% normal school bus after calculation.... ).
anyway.... every i check the total of my whole family spend on the transportation per month..... i die.....

=$7500 per year.
I can save around $1000 per year x 2 kids = HK$2000

our depart is from tsing yi mtr as well!
650hkd/m for round trip. morning around 7:20 to 7:30, off school at 15:45 arrive at ysing yi around 16:10.
80% single trip which mean 520hkd/m
the extra bus is at 16:45 and will arrive at tsing yi around 17:10 is 12hkd/trip. need to register at school every week.

Thx for your info. My girl took school bus to Tai Woo Hou from Tsing Yi and it cost 420 per month. So I think 650 is not expensive at all.
I saw school circular that there was only 1 day for P.1-2 ECA, not so sure if you can enroll your boy to so many ECA.

base on average 22 school days / month, makes it 650/22 around 30hk/day and 15hkd per trip.
so if our son can stay one more hour in school library to finish the home work when he doesn't have ECA. we will then economic 130+(3x22)=186hkd/month. if our 2nd son lucky enough (we, parents lucky enough) to get an offer from tsl as well!!! times 2 in the future then!!! 
also with my wife, we are planning take turn to bring him to school in the morning as tsl is on our way to office ( on our line of mtr actually.. still need to walk from olympic to tsl.) (yup.... parents with 3 kids... we need to count every penny... he he he! )
so connie mum, if you need arrangement in the future to bring her to school from tsing yi. feel free let us know.

you are right, there is only wed afternoon ECA is obligatory (finish at 15:30). however, seems there are ECA everyday after school (15:30 to 16:30 in option).
i maybe mis-understood.... anyone correct me if i'm wrong!

I think it was 7m "long months", 3m "shotr months" for ex-schoolbus company ?
In our case it was $580 / $290.
Calc = $580x7 + $290x3 = $4930.
For "new" schoolbus company, I saw a nearby route saying ~$475/m, not sure if we are on that route.
So round about the same.

FYI, Extra school buses don't operate during some weeks, e.g. 1st school week, exam weeks +/- 1 week, etc. You need to arrange your own transportation for you kid(s) to go home duing those times!

Your ideal case is under the assumptions that
1. the school allow P.1 student study at Library on his own
2. Camill does not need a nap after full school day
3. Camill will work on his homework in the library
4. Camill not gets distracted and will be on time for the extra school bus services.
It seems you need to get Camill prepared for many things before school year begin

he he he!!! the ideal case is camill able to take care everything by himself, go to school and back home alone by MTR and bus, no need to follow his school and homework by us..... and even better if he can pass by the supermarket and buy the dinner for the family when return my ideal!!!
1/ called tsl last day and the Library and study room open with teacher on duty.
2/ no nap since K2, however our children go to bed around 20:30 to 21:00. 
3/ his kindergarten push the children make a working plan. i find this is a good idea! they have a daily writing down all the homework they plan to finish. most of time, i just correct the work he has done so far. other than some works he doesn't know how to do, he will wait for me or my wife, otherwise he doesn't really need us to sit beside him to do his homework (by now..... primary school will be another story..... ).
4/ and under my own assumption.... is, we start with school bus and see how it goes after, it seems that it is just a budget that we need to consider as a part of primary education fee... that's all....

We don’t worry whether he can use public transport to and back from school and buy your dinner at supermarket by himself.
However, we are more concerned about whether he will be chased up by female classmates at school everyday so he cannot focus on finishing his school work in time!!
