我可能好蠢地問句, 天象廳仲有地方起咩? 會有幾高幾大哩?? 屬於咩野科目???

有無咩作用先???? 作為家長會想有比較實際野比細路! 定打算教似陳易希等學生出來哩

- I guess it should be on the roof of the building.

會有幾高幾大哩?

- No need to be too high or too big.

Just a corner with some telescopes on the roof of the building will do.

作用又係咩呀??

- To enhance the pupils’ interests/knowledge in astronomy and science.

屬於咩野科目???

- It’s related to G.S. in primary school and it’s integrated science in secondary school.

有無咩作用先?

- To some extent, it will be beneficial to those pupils who are more interested in science subjects in future.

According to the plan, it is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
Therefore, there is still plenty of time to plan and build it.
I guess the construction will normally take place during long holidays or summer holidays so as not to affect the normal lessons.

i was always interested in astronomy when i was kid... however, it was not very common it these days.
i'm happy that tsl would make the initiative act to develop this subject within the curriculum and ECA to extend the interest of children in this field!

Astronomy and astrophysics have developed significant interdisciplinary links with other major scientific fields. Archaeoastronomy is the study of ancient or traditional astronomies in their cultural context, utilizing archaeological and anthropological evidence. Astrobiology is the study of the advent and evolution of biological systems in the universe, with particular emphasis on the possibility of non-terrestrial life.

The study of chemicals found in space, including their formation, interaction and destruction, is called astrochemistry. These substances are usually found in molecular clouds, although they may also appear in low temperature stars, brown dwarfs and planets. Cosmochemistry is the study of the chemicals found within the Solar System, including the origins of the elements and variations in the isotope ratios. Both of these fields represent an overlap of the disciplines of astronomy and chemistry. As "forensic astronomy", finally, methods from astronomy have been used to solve problems of law and history.

we can call the subject "X-Files"!

Don't be misled by "廳", it can be a small space with serveral hundred feet. Even the golf area now can built a 天象廳. What I would question is. . . To 觀星, the sky must not be light-contaminated . . . which I doubt the area where TSL is located is not the case. It would be much better for school located at Stanley or Shantin hill top.

IN the 2009 admission talk, the headmaster already mentioned about this plan and did mentioned that the current tuition fee may under pressure, so dear parents, please be prepared.

多 d 設施點都係好嘅, 天象廳可以擴闊小朋友嘅視野同好奇心 (小弟兒時是非常喜歡天文的, 但卻沒有任何支援), 又可增加知識, 加些少學費可以接受, 惟獨係...............2013, 我呀女冇份

Not sure whether you are aware that Miss Leung was born in Macau or not?
Before Po Leung Kuk took over the school in 1999 and renamed it as TSL, there were some Portuguese (or Macau) families in HK sending their children to this school.
Miss Leung was one of the pupils studying there.
May be she joined TSL in P5/P6, not 100% sure.

You see, very “bright” future for girls!!

Just kidding. Don’t take it too seriously!!

Yes, the school was previously named Portuguese Community School, and it had a very long history ....
