After this round if there are openings, then the kindergarten will contact some in waiting list first. After July 3 or any time after that, if there are openings, those on waiting list and offered will also be contacted.

Please be patience to wait for the call since based on previous experience, the office will call the parents who didn't show up to make sure they are really giving up or forget. May be the waiting parents would find it unnecessary but if you are one of those who forget or unable to come to register yesterday, they would understand it is a caring process to check with all of them before notifying the waiting parents if seats can be offered.

This will take a few more days so will know the result before July.

珈珈mama, you are welcome. I also received the help from many SHCK parents last year so hoping to help others too.

Do you have any offers on hand? Seems you interested in SHCK in particular, right? However, don't too much hope or not to give up too soon if you don't receive call within the next couple weeks. A lot of things can happen during the summer holiday......

I think that's the ideal situation then. When do you need to pay the next round at Tivoli?

My feeling is, don't expect too much in the coming round in June and be prepared it could be very last minute to have any good news.

haha, so embarrassing! If I have heard anything, it will not be "風" only lor, so I cannot tell you lar!

What I can tell you for sure is don't count on many people giving up SHCK for SPK this year, because there are very few such cases this year! So, this is why I don't think there will be a lot of offering to waiting list as of June.

But there are cases in previous years where some parents are still struggling on choosing kindergartens with more intensive English environment or international schools so they still haven't decided by now.

These people releasing the seats late in July/ August not because of getting new offers, they just haven't decided yet.

haha, first of all, I must clarify I didn't say very few no shows ;) I don't know the number gar! I just know very few girls this year to be so lucky to have offers from both SPK and SHCK. Is SPK's interview happen after SHCK announced result this year? Last year we have more such cases because SPK's interview was before SHCK announce the result. So, may be this year some parents didn't attend SPK's interview. Just my guess, may not be true. Anyway, there are really very few of this case as far as I know.

Don't be so pessimistic! I am sure there will be seats open in August. Last year I know there are around 10 at least being offered in the month of August. Paying for uniforms and books won't forced all parents to decide yet! That's why every year there are parents selling new uniforms or even books after results are announced mar ;)

I wish you good luck but need to have patience......

Hi brima,

April and June is very different timing for a kindergarten's operation. June is very close to end of the academic year so there are much more to finished and prepared. Hope you can be considerate and understand. To add more workloads, this is the 150th anniversary of the kindergarten, so everyone are extremely busy as we have earlier and much bigger graduation party this year.

I know the waiting parents are anxious to get update, but how much time required to contact those who didn't show up can take time and cannot be estimated (some may be out-of-town).

Again, I wish you good luck and do let me know if there are any helps I can offer.

I feel sorry for all the anxious and nervous parents too but there are really not much I can say beside to wait more. What I know is there are always surprises near September if you are really sincere about the kindergarten.

I just checked that in last year, 11 out of the 30 initial offer (Feb 2009) to my daughter's class were not taken up. According to this sample, the chance of waiting list was high last year.

Must really be careful to use this number as an example. If the waiting parents use this ratio to hope so many seats will be opened (one-third) then this may give them false hope.

As I mentioned few months ago, I have checked all 180 students' names against the result released and the current students' list. Don't wanna disclose the number again but the key point is, one-third of these waiting list offers were made by August or later.

I have mentioned many times, don't assume so many seats to be released at this point.

I too got their call on 15th too. Real surprised I was, as I was expecting an interview with Sis. Kwok at a later date before she makes her decision. I was informed that the interview was cancelled owing to her busy schedule. So don't give up hope, fingers crossed for your daughter :)

Normally wait list will be pm classes. The limited vacancies in am classes will be allocated to those whose elder siblings are also in am classes or with special needs.

n班? You mean NC (which you know it is same as K1)? It's good news for coming year applicants, there will be 60 extra seats for 2011-12, so total is 240 seats (4 am classes and 4 pm classes)!

There are 10 classrooms in total, so that means one out of every three years, there will be an extra classroom available (i.e. 2008/09 4 NC, 2009/10 3 NC, 2010/11 3 NC (this year), then 2011/12 can have 4 NC as the 2008/09 would have graduated).

Coming Sept is certainly full, SHCK is one of the few kindergartens which are always full. I think the waiting list for coming Sept is still very long.

For 2011/12, not yet begin application.

10-11 k1??? Then that is not consider "挿班" lar (school hasn't started mar!:D), other kindergartens may have chance but SHCK should be very very unlikely. It's definitely too late. I thought I suggest you to try next year to 挿班 K2 right? Of course you can keep trying!

對將來上小學有無影響？ <== You mean not enough spaces in primary school?  SHCSPS is private, the limit of seats apply to gov't aided schools (30+3 per class) like SHCS.  Anyway, SHCS has 5 classes and SHCSPS has 3-4 classes a year.  Both of them can take 300 students together.  For the case of 2011-12 intake of 4x2 classes of SHCK, SHCSPS will also has 4 classes on 2014 P1 intake.  I have done this math when I apply SHCK for my elder daughter so I know all along my young one can have better chance to both SHCK and SHCSPS!

規定全日 <== SHCS is NOT the only one which hasn't changed to whole day, along with over 20 gov't aided primary schools which are too popular to change yet (Wan Yan, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's and Hennessy Road Gov't, which will be changing soon).  In order to switch to whole day, the impact is you need to cut your class size in half!  This is one of the agenda changing from half day to full day because the EDB foresee big drop on birth rate and to minimize cutting schools.  For example, a normal primary school with 4 classes in the past (e.g. 2 am + 2 pm), can only has 2 classes left after change to full day.  Take a look of the primary schools in C&W district, and most of the primary schools are only running 2 classes per year now!  And SHCSPS + SHCS has total 8 classes of primary schools!  So, in order to change to whole day, then will need to find a new campus to move out SHCS.  However, it hasn't been successful to find a new campus yet.  It will change to whole-day, some day when gov't can provide a suitable places to move.

At the end, if you look carefully, half day and whole day are really that much in different?  I prefer half day personally.

我就係無錢而係好人呢，我本身是屋村長大！
好人或不好人，其實好抽象，我比錢選擇上午班，係我個人相信，幼稚園那批同學大多會這樣做吧！keep住一起成長，小學我想我仍能替女兒選擇，但中學，大多都靠自已吧，每間中學都有好壞，只係多，定少，我相信聖心一定係少！

本人女兒都係聖心幼稚園讀緊, 不過我地打算揀下午津校, 因為讀私小, 實在跟功課跟得好辛苦, 本人要返工, 我女個班都唔少同學仔既家姐都係讀下午班。

仲有私小一樣有外來生架, 只係無津校咁多。

可能我誤會左你意思, 因為有太多人, 我唔係指你, 係教育版看到太多家長認為有錢讀私校好了不起, 所以我先會咁講。

講真, 幼稚園唔係聖心讀, 始終咁細, 應該唔會壞得去邊。最重要係家長點樣教仔女, 我地齊齊加油吧！

上午真係深好多架, 因為我女個班都有人讀上午私校, 又係大家交流意見咁囉。

我呢d working mama, 邊有咁多時間跟默書測驗, 課程深一年, 或許會好辛苦, 既然最終都係入返聖心中學, 無謂令自己同女兒都咁辛苦。

你岩岩先入黎聖心, 仲有兩年時間考慮讀私小定津小。

My husband went to the kindi on the 3rd July to collect books & uniform (though we don't need them anymore) He said in what would have been my boy's class, one third of the 'boxes on the teacher's check list was not filled in (my husband was quite late) So I think there are still many chances, don't give up. I'd have love this kindi if my kid was a girl.
