Any ESF TY parents received the welcome pack? My girl is in Whale PM class. Any Whale parents here?

Just wonder why no response here though lots of discussion were here before regarding the admission and application of the ESF kinder.
So glad to know now I'm not alone.
I will go to the evening too. Mummybear, will you take the school bus?

I'm still considering if only take one ride or none with the school bus. Personally, I'll like my girl has one ride so to have more friends and happy time with them. Let's see how much it costs and the time schedule.
Whale's play date is Aug 19. Is that same as Dino's?

Oooray-u are all the times helpful here to those ESF or to-be ESF parents. You did answer and provide valueable info to me in the past and surely you can cast a light to me in the future as well. Thanks for your supports as always!
BTW, I thought your kid was moved on to ESF primary. Never aware he/she is still with TY. Your kid is in K2 now? Enjoy the last month's kindergarten life!

i've just got a email telling me that the whole K1 class will be promoting to the same K2 class. That means most of classmates are old friends. Children are going to meet their new K2 teachers on Thursday.

i'm also headache re his nap. He is going to nursery right now in the morning. every day after school, he must need to have a nap at around 2:00pm for around 2 hours.
I'm thinking to "tune" his biological clock during the summer vacation....let him to sleep a bit late...say 10:30pm...and then let him to wake up a bit late in the morning....see how it goes !

My daughter will promote to K2 in coming academic year.
FYI, 1st Floor classrooms are for K1 students and G/F classrooms are for K2 students.

And welcome all the new TY ESF parents! Generally I am very satisfied with this school, and my son is very happy studying here.

My son is now in pm Nursary class also therefore the timetable for Sept to him will be the same. We normally put him to bed at around 10-10:30. He wake up at 8-9am. Eat at 9:30am (a full bowl of marcaroni), story time and play time till around 11:30. then get changed and drink a large bottle of milk before he get on the school bus at 12.
I tried to put him to take a nap at 11am and wake him up at 11:45 but this does not work well. Therefore I rather let him to sleep when he come back from school. He normally wake up again at 7:30pm then have dinner with us together.
See if this time table can be ur sample.

I think 1 or 2 adults will be fine for parent evening.
(Last year, i didn't see any grandpa/grandma/uncle/auntie in parent evening.)
For play date in Aug, we were asked 2 adults going; one played with the child and the other listened some briefing. But u know how big the classroom (if it is called a classroom); should be very crowded.
I wonder the arrangement would be the same this year.

me2. I've nothing to ask at the moment.
I guess K1 parents' big concern is about Year 1 interview in Jan 2011 but i don't there will be anything new and useful there...even if they have, we won't miss any even if we are not there in that evening.

Hi mummybear,
My gal is in PM nursery currently as well and she has a 1.5 hr nap before going to the school (so she's always late for 15-30mins - but the school is not so strict on this for the 2 yr old class 
)
And I think I may have to change her time table similar to yours....have a nap after school and then have dinner with us and get to bed a bit late at around 10pm.
Let's see if this works when she starts her school

Yes. Morning class is more easy to arrange and I did try to ask the school to change to a AM session but not successful. 
We all have to observe our kids and adjust the schudule for our kids later on....

Kwoon Chung' school bus also has seat belt. Yet, I saw many ESF KG students also bring their seat belt to school everyday...

From my observation, at least race, gender ,maturity... are being considered. It looks every class has similar combinations.

I know last year they move older kids from their original class to Panda, the bigger kid class. I am not sure if they are doing the same this year.

how was your day there in that evening? My girl likes the school and the teacher a lot!!
She did not like being in Whale Class before going to school and now she's totally fine of being a Whale student.
Do hope she'll have a good start and happy time there in ESF.

K1: 4 classes per session (AM/PM) class size ~26;
cat 1/cat 2 ratio : i guess only the school knows and i don't think they will disclose details.
Even they tell u the historical figures, it is still useless because u never know how many cat. 1 will apply next year (u only know cat. 1 always has the priority.)
No matter how high/how low the chance will be, how many cat. 1 / cat.2 will be, what your friend should do to pay HK$300 to file an application on time. The rest is out of your control.

ESF will release the result right after the play visit while the first round of play visit invitation letter will usually be sent between late Dec to early Feb.

(As we are not in HK until mid-Oct... i worried about the applications are considered under date order or they will do the screening process when reaching certain amount of application forms...) thanks.

Early application has no advantage. You would have to submit the application within the October time frame. Once ESF get the application, they categorize them and assign a computer generated number onto the application. All applications received before the Oct deadline (no matter what day in October it is received) are treated equally.
