If you want your child to be immersed in an English environment, that is not quite a good choice. 99% of the children who join these camps are local Chinese from local schools. But if you just want your child to have fun, it's not a bad choice. It's pretty expensive too.

English summer camps are usually for local chinese even for those who are already in the ESF system. Children we are native english speaking tend to go on vacation abroad or do something non-academic during the summer to enjoy the holidays.

Agree!

Years ago my girl had done ESF summer school. There was a observation class for the parents to attend. I found the teacher pretty strict to make sure that the kids spoke in English (unlike British Council).

I am thinking to enrol my younger son now.
