May be some parents fear the pressure among rich families and considering the transportation. Of course SPK is much more attractive. All girls getting offers from SPK and HY are lovely.

Both are good schools to me, just like the dilemma of DGS & St Paul Co-ed, friends of mine who got both Heep Yunn & SPK usually choose SPK no matter where they live.  It's true that SPK, especially recent years, attract many applicants who live all over the places.  That's why about two years ago, they have arranged school bus to kowloon.  The nanny bus even covers N.T. as well.

In terms of admission to primary school, SPK has more advantage, 90%+ should be a factor for consideration.  However, Heep Yunn Primary does not have to pay school fee.  Hwr, there are only 10 places offered after 2nd round lucky draw.  Bear in mind that HY may be changed to DSS in few years time.  In that case, the admission percentage is higher but school fee will be charged.

One more factor to consider is St Paul Convent Primary is an English Primary School while Heep Yunn Primary is a Chinese one.

In terms of extra-curricular activites, Heep Yunn Primary is more supportive and has a lot more focus than St Paul.  However, in kindergarten, SPK is more relax and they offer swimming class and cooking class.  For heep yunn kindergarten, they will have PTA and it got a lot more family activities.

唔好意思,令你誤會,我並唔係諗住show off,事實上,我個女冇考到spk, hy收左pm,兩間我都好鍾意,但冇寄望可以入到協小,而spk係一條龍,本來諗住出年做大女考spk,所以想問下大家意見,如果令你誤會,抱歉!

Astoria, do you think worth for small bb (Nov/Dec) repeat K1 in SPK (K1 in HY already)? Will super big kids feel embrassed as they are tall and mature?

my daughter is studying at SPK,
i found many children were tall and mature, so it is just hard to tell who's big baby.
On the other way, it is very easy to identify who is small baby

DEC BB is actually only 1 month older than JAN BB
shouldn't be a problem

唔係個個都會選spk, 大部份基督徒就算住hk 都會prefer hy 多過spk. 就算spk 同真光比, 都有唔少會放棄spk 選真光.

I remember your girl is Jan bb, right? If super big b is not really facing pressure, I have another concern. Do you know does SPC use PTH for Chinese lessons starting from P1?

We are living in Kln side & get offers for SPK (PM) & GH (AM). <very low chance moving to HK side since still have a younger brother who will start school in Kln Tong in Sept>

I think both are very good school & with high chance for one-dragon.

Which will you choose?

It depends. Some parents want their kids be small B as they don't want to waste one year. Since the big/small effect will go away eventually. Some parents want their kids be big B as in terms of performance they will have mroe advantage.
Both SPK and Heep Yunn admit a lot of big BB, small bb compete in both kinder is not an easy task. I would suggest get into Heep Yunn now and apply SPK next year. SPK is not that easy to be admitted. If you're girl is admitted next year, try to get more opinion at that time.

Super big kids won't feel embrassed as they are
a lot of big or super big kids in both kindergarten.

I have friends who are 基督徒 in SPK and vice versa. It all depends on parent who ranking on the importance of religious.

Oh, then your elder is 'small' at SPK, hehe. For Dec bb, try next year, I think SEP/Oct is real a problem.

Don't give up SPK, it's worth to travel far for such good school. I even give up GH and choose HY.

I think I should work hard together with my girl this year and see what happen, parent should not always determine everything, let her try in the coming year and determined by school and herself.

Thanks for your advise. I have asked many ppl so far & no one ask me to give up SPK. Seems like SPK is a very good one coz of SPC. Honestly, I don't know both SPK & GH too much coz I didn't study in top brand school before.

Thanks for your advise.

I prayed to the God to give me intelligent on picking the right school (not the best) for my daughter on Sat. In this two days, I have received a lot of comments from different parents on the good points of St Paul in different aspect (not only academic). I guess I know what to do now.

I am a Christian and I know some brothers & sisters from my church also prefer Christian schools.

For my case, I prefer schools with Christian background or no religion background. Some Christian friends of mine even not apply SPK and SHCK because of the religion reason.

Agreed that not all Christians don't apply Catholic schools but all depends on their priority on their believes in God.

i raise this up because my colleague from UK insists there is no difference even i told him there are catholic schools and christian schools in hk.
