1. Look! They are so tired and sleeping now.

2. Look! They are so tired and are sleeping now.

The teacher said No. 1 is wrong. For me I think both are correct. What other mother have any opinion? Thanks.

Yeh, the teacher is correct.

The "are" in (1) is a verb on its own. It can't be shared with "sleeping".

(1) is correct if it is like this:

Look! They are eating and sleeping now.

Logically nonsense, but grammar-wise it is okay.
